The quest for the next segment of the Key to Time takes the Doctor and Romana to... checks notes... Earth. So on this exotic planet these first two episodes of ‘The Stones of Blood’ have our classic Whosome Twosome in rural England finding Neo-Druids in lieu of the third piece. Whilst attempting to course-correct Romana wears incorrect foot-wear, the ‘Doctor’ pushes her off a cliff for her folly, and the titular stones sadly beat K9. If only K9 was made of paper...

We discuss the remaining two episodes of ‘The Pirate Planet’ and... oh boy... buckle in cuz it’s gonna be a bumpy flight. The Doctor evades death several more times. The Mentiads end up being psychic good guys. Nurse is the 3D printed version of the despotic Queen Xanxia. Captain is destroying planets to kill Xanxia... but he’s still a bad guy... right? Right?!? All whilst Romana is a murdering bad ass. And it turns out the second Key of Time was the friends we made along the way. But really the planet Calufrax.

In ‘The Pirate Planet’ the Doctor and Romana continue their quest to find the six Keys to Time and attempt to land on the boring-ass planet of Calufrax . Instead they apparently land on Zanak: a planet covered in rare gems with nary a quarry to be seen (so far...) and no easily located second Key of Time... sad face. Whilst our classic Who pairing bicker classically, these first two episodes find the Pirate Captain blustering evilly at Romana and the Doctor facing certain death in not one but two cliffhangers! Ah, the 70’s: the time before the internets and spoiler culture.

When we last saw the Doctor and new companion Romana, they were about to be executed! ***SPOILERS AHEAD*** This is your last chance for not being spoiled for the remaining 2 parts of ‘The Ribos Operation’. (Your funeral mate... you’ve been warned...) And... the lead of the show shockingly didn’t get killed. Nope. Not one bit. But whilst the Doctor remained living, Binro been killed, the Seeker met her maker and the Graff blowed up real good! At least the first segment for the Key of Time was found. Worth it.

Join us as we begin a podcast mini-series where we watch an entire broadcast-series of classic era Doctor Who. The one where the Doctor was tasked by the White Guardian to locate the 6 part Key to Time before his counter-part the Black Guardian absconds with said key to do... bad stuff I guess? We’re watching series 16 to be exact; the first ever series of classic-Who to tackle a season long arc. First up we watch parts 1 and 2 of ‘The Ribos Operation’ where the Doctor was voluntold to pair up with fellow Time Lord Romana (Romanadvernatlundar to her friends thank you very much...) whilst trying to find the first segment of the Key to Time. I did say there’s six of those there keys, right?

In this 24th episode of our Deja Brew series where we re-watch Doctor Who episodes covered years back, we do said thingy for the 10th Doctor’s swan song: ‘The End Of Time’ parts 1 and 2. We begin with the Master returning to life and treating London like an all-you-care-to-eat buffet, Wilf searching for the Doctor with every horny London pensioner, and then end up with the Doctor not wanting to go (spoilers... this face will keep returning... eye roll... ). Whilst this all occurs, Martha marries Mickey (wha?), Donna wins the lottery (yeah!), and the Tardis explodes with this Doctor’s regenergy(?!?). Geronimo bitches!

This here 23rd Deja Brew Nu Who re-watch-a-thon first finds that ‘The Next Doctor’ isn’t... about the next Doctor that is. Whilst said titular gaslighting is occurring, the Doctor travels to mid 19th century London (again?) to thwart a BCG (Big Cyber Giant). Next up on the roster is ‘Planet Of The Dead’ where the Doctor travels to contemporary London (of course) to thwart an invasion of BMLs (Big Metal Locusts). Rounding home plate we finally get to ‘The Waters Of Mars’ where the Doctor travels to the Red Planet in the near future (it follows) to thwart TMVs (Tiny Martian Viruses). So this triple play was ultimately about the Doctor thwarting TDV (The Doctor Victorious)? I guess they hit it out of the park. Sports!

Our 22nd Deja Brew podcast starts off with ‘Turn Left’ where Donna goes on a Capra-esque journey whilst the Doctor wisely sits this one out to get a Brazilian. Next up is ‘The Stolen Earth’ where the Doctor and Donna find that the Earth has been... well... stolen. Fortunately all the spin offs were free to phone in a tip on how to find it. Finally we have ‘Journey’s End’ where Donna returns to her old life totally ‘wiped out’ whilst the Doctor tells Rose to ‘talk to the hand’. Oh! And don’t forget Daleks speaking German.
