  • Does cleaning your car make it run better? Ep. 152
    2026/09/01

Why Does My Car Drive Better When It’s Clean?

Have you ever washed your car and immediately thought, “Man, this thing is running GOOD!” 😂

Same car. Same engine. Same mileage. Same little mystery noise you’ve been ignoring for months… but somehow, after a good wash and vacuum, it feels like you just drove it off the showroom floor.

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we’re talking about the strange—and very real—feeling that your car drives better when it’s clean. Is it actually running better? Probably not. 😂 Or is it all in our heads?

We talk about the psychology behind a clean car, the junk that somehow accumulates in our vehicles, the magical transformation that happens after a $15 car wash, and why a clean car can make us appreciate what we already have.

And maybe there’s a bigger lesson hiding underneath all that dirt, trash, and those mysterious French fries under the seat.

Sometimes we don’t need something new.

Sometimes we just need to clean up what we already have and see it differently.

So buckle up, roll the windows down, and join me for another episode of Drive Time with Matt.

    And be honest…

Does your car drive better after you wash it? 🚗😂

  • Just Hit Record Ep.151
    2026/08/31

    🎙️ Spotify Episode Description

Just Hit Record: 150 Episodes Later

For the first time ever on Drive Time with Matt, I have a guest riding along with me!

Beth Nelson is a friend from church, a mom of three, and someone who has been thinking about starting her own podcast. So she came prepared with questions—and I decided to turn those questions into an episode!

How did I come up with Drive Time with Matt? Did I know what I was doing when I started? What was I afraid of? What’s the easiest part of podcasting—and what’s the hardest? How do you deal with negative comments? And after more than 150 episodes, where do I see this going?

But this conversation becomes about much more than podcasting.

It’s about starting before you’re ready, overcoming the fear of what people might think, learning from your mistakes, and realizing you don’t have to have everything figured out before you take the first step.

Beth and I also talk about what it takes to actually get started, the reality of balancing a creative project with everyday life, and why sometimes the best advice is simply:

    Just hit record.

If you’ve ever had something you’ve wanted to try but kept putting it off because you weren’t sure you were ready, this episode is for you.

    🎧 Thanks for riding along!

  • Bigfoot or? Ep.150
    2026/08/28

    Bigfoot or?

Is Bigfoot real… or are we all just really good at convincing ourselves we saw something in the woods? 🦶🌲

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, Matt dives headfirst into one of America’s favorite mysteries: Bigfoot. From strange sightings and giant footprints to the famous Patterson-Gimlin footage and the biggest problem Bigfoot believers face—where is the actual evidence?

But things get even more interesting when Matt discovers that Marion, North Carolina, is hosting a Sasquatch Festival this weekend… complete with a Bigfoot Calling Contest! 😂

    Yes. You read that right.

People are actually getting up and attempting to sound like Bigfoot—and Matt has an audio clip to prove it.

Is Bigfoot a real creature hiding somewhere deep in the Appalachian Mountains? Is it a giant misunderstanding? A really convincing guy in a hairy costume? Or is Bigfoot simply the greatest hide-and-seek champion the world has ever known?

Matt takes a humorous but honest look at the evidence, the legends, the skeptics, and the believers—and ultimately asks the question:

    Bigfoot… or?

Have you ever felt like your car is personally trying to make you broke? 😂

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, Matt vents about the never-ending expenses that seem to come with owning a vehicle. • Where Did Women’s Sports Go? Ep.148
    2026/08/25

    Where Did Women’s Sports Go?

Who gets to compete in women’s sports—and what should define the women’s category?

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, Matt takes on one of the most controversial conversations in sports today: biological sex, transgender athletes, and the future of women’s athletics.

As a dad of daughters, Matt shares why this issue feels personal to him and why he believes parents and female athletes deserve to have an honest conversation about fairness, safety, biology, and competitive opportunity.

Matt talks about why women’s sports exist in the first place, the physical differences between males and females that can affect athletic performance, the role of biological sex in athletic eligibility, and why asking difficult questions shouldn’t automatically make someone hateful or bigoted.

This isn’t about attacking people. It’s about asking questions, standing by your convictions, and having a conversation that many people would rather avoid.

Can we disagree without hating each other?

Can we protect women’s sports while still treating every person with dignity?

Matt shares where he stands—and why this conversation matters to him as a father.

  • The Bus Was Our Internet Ep.147
    2026/08/22

    The Bus Was Our Internet

Remember when the school bus was basically the internet?

Before Google, smartphones, TikTok, and social media, we learned a whole lot about life sitting on a yellow bus. We learned who was dating who, which teacher to watch out for, how to make friends, how to handle conflict, how to deal with embarrassment—and sometimes, things our parents probably wished we’d never learned! 😂

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, a simple conversation about our kids heading back to school turns into a trip down memory lane. We talk about growing up before the internet, the lessons we learned from the people around us, and how different childhood is for our kids today.

Because the school bus wasn’t just transportation. It was our classroom, our social network, our news feed, and sometimes our survival training.

And maybe life is still a lot like riding the bus. Sometimes you’re on the activity bus. Sometimes you’re wondering how you ended up where you are. Sometimes you just want to get off. But every stop, every person, and every experience teaches us something.

So buckle up, take a ride down memory lane, and remember when the bus was our internet.

  • You Don’t Know…Yet. Ep.146
    2026/08/21

    You Don’t Know Yet

My daughter recently told me she was nervous about starting 8th grade because she doesn’t know her teachers very well.

My first thought? “Well… yeah. That’s every year!” 😂

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized she might be onto something.

Because how often do we get nervous simply because we don’t know what’s coming?

A new job. A new relationship. A new responsibility. A difficult decision. A completely new season of life.

We don’t know how it’s going to turn out. And sometimes, we mistake that uncertainty for a reason to be afraid.

In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, we talk about what happens when we’re standing at the beginning of something unfamiliar—and why you don’t have to know everything before you take the next step.

You don’t know if the new teacher will be your favorite.

You don’t know if you’ll make a new friend.

You don’t know if the new job will work out.

You don’t know what this next chapter will bring.

    And that’s okay.

    You don’t know yet.

Sometimes, you just have to take the next step and let the story unfold.

So buckle up and ride along. This one’s about starting something new, trusting the process, and remembering that being nervous doesn’t mean you’re not ready.

  • Don’t Want To Do That Again. Ep.145
    2026/08/19

Thank God I Don’t Have to Date Again! 😂

Dating can be exciting, awkward, frustrating, and sometimes downright exhausting. In this episode of Drive Time with Matt, I talk about a conversation I had with a young coworker who was disappointed after a girl he had been seeing decided to call it off.

I told him something I really believe: dating is a lot like a job interview. Sometimes you get the interview but not the job—and that doesn’t mean you’re not qualified. It may simply mean you weren’t the right fit.

We’ll talk about rejection, confidence, learning from relationships, and most importantly, trusting God when the timing doesn’t make sense. If God has placed the desire for marriage in your heart, sometimes the hardest part is simply waiting and trusting that He knows what He’s doing.

And for those of us who are already married?

Well… thank God we don’t have to date again! 😂
