DNA fingerprinting s a valuable forensic tool that has been hugely instrumental in helping police identify criminals. But where did it begin?

When did this cutting edge technology become available leading to millions of murders being solved the world over?

The answer to this takes us back to 1983 in Leicestershire, England when 15 year old Lynda Mann was brutally sexually assaulted & murdered.

Searches for her killer proved fruitless, until another young girl was murdered three years later.

But this time police had a new trick up their sleeve, a ground breaking advancement in forensic science.

DNA fingerprinting has since put millions of criminals behind bars ...

Police did a sweep of all local men asking them to submit dna to eliminate them from the murders .

But when a private conversation is overheard of a man admitting to giving his own dna in place of a friends.

This information leads police to the man who hadn't wanted to submit his own DNA, the man who had killed the two victims.

The man with the most serial killery name I've ever heard Colin Pitchfork, a local married father.

Pitchfork went down in history as being the first murderer ever to be convicted using DNA evidence making him part of British Criminological history & not in a good way....

The British public were in uproar when he was released in 2021 after serving 33 years, before being recalled to prison for breaking rules of his probation.

But the question remains will he stay behind bars, or will this child killer be released to live amongst us as a free man, who is free to use his new name once again ..?
