Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

The church (and feminism) teaches a really confusing rule when it comes to how women dress: You better not dress feminine because you'll make your brother sin but you also better dress feminine because otherwise you're not honoring the body gave you! But what are we missing?? DISCERNMENT! Listen to this episode to hear what the Bible actually has to say about it!

*************

Lie #1: Godly femininity is equal to masculinity.

  • Proverbs 31:30
  • Proverbs 31:
    • Verse 17 — “She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.” (physical strength)
    • Verse 12 — “She does [her husband] good, and not harm, all the days of her life.” (emotional strength)
    • Verse 15 — “[she] provides food for her household” (physical provision)
    • Verse 21b — “all her household are clothed in scarlet.” (physical provision)
    • Verse 25b — ”the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” (intellectually strong)
    • Verse 26 — “She looks well to the ways of her household” (physical provision)
  • Song of Songs
  • 1 Samuel 16

Lie #2: Freedom in Christ means I can dress however I want

  • John 16:8
  • Romans 2:4
  • Romans 14:13-23

Solution: Middle Ground = Discernment

  • Psalm 40:6-8
  • Psalm 50:8
  • Psalm 51:16
  • Isaiah 1:11-31
  • Jeremiah 7:21-23
  • Hosea 6:6
  • Hebrews 10:4-10

Questions to ask yourself:

  1. Do you notice any defensiveness rising in you toward the lies we discussed today? What might that reveal about an inner conflict you’re carrying?
  2. Which Scripture from today’s teaching is God prompting you to study more deeply? How might understanding His Word more fully shift the way you live and believe?
  3. Do I focus more on rules than on the intentions of my heart? Are there rules that I need to release so that I can cling to my heavenly Father instead?
  4. Do I claim “freedom in Christ” to allow myself to do things that may not honor, respect, or serve my brothers- and sisters-in-Christ? What do I need to sacrifice to the Lord so that my heart is honoring Him?
