Dohnte Meyers, fresh off a standout debut catch in the NFL, is igniting buzz with his CFL-to-NFL transition—drawing comparisons to Bengals legends Andrew Hawkins and Milt Stegall. Hawkins sees his first 18-yard grab as a major milestone, crediting the CFL’s three-down system for sharpening players’ ability to turn short routes into big plays. Stegall echoes that the athleticism demanded in Canadian football translates powerfully to the NFL—and believes Meyers has the grit and talent to build a long, successful career. Both former CFL stars, who overcame tough odds to reach the top, now mentor from the sidelines, knowing the grind it takes. With Bengals coach Zac Taylor, also a CFL vet, likely recognizing Meyers’ unique journey, the foundation is set for trust between quarterback Joe Burrow and the rookie. Meyers’ poise, physicality, and potential signal he’s not just ready—he’s primed to shine.
