Pete ditches us for vacation, so I bring in the one guest who has survived more Disney trips with me than anyone else: my wife, Ani. She didn’t grow up as a Walt Disney World kid, but she did grow up on classic Disney movies, and her first real park experience came after we got married, when I made the rookie mistake of trying to do everything at once. That early chaos becomes the launch point for a blunt, funny, and surprisingly useful look at how Disney travel changes when you’re balancing marriage, kids, energy, and expectations.
We talk about what Disney does better than other vacations, including the cast member moments that feel genuinely magical, and what it does worse, like price gouging and the pressure to squeeze value out of every minute. Ani gives the spouse view of traveling with a Disney planner who is always in the My Disney Experience app, constantly chasing Lightning Lane timing, rope drop wins, and (sometimes) sanity. We also get real about the stressful side of planning, from 6 a.m. dining reservations to coordinating a large group trip without losing your mind.
Then we switch to the “mom perspective” that most planning guides miss: why a stroller still matters, how snacks and breaks prevent meltdowns, why extra clothes can save a night, and the moment you know it’s time to leave the park even if you paid a lot to be there. We wrap with rapid-fire favorites, resort talk, and what we hope our kids remember about these Disney family vacations when they’re older.
