Back-to-school comes with so many things we can control: the backpack we choose, what we wear, how we look, and the excitement of seeing friends again. But what about everything we can’t control?
We don’t know our teachers yet. We don’t know how the school year will go. We don’t know what challenges or changes might come our way. And sometimes, those unknowns can keep us up at night.
In this episode, I’m talking about the discomfort that comes with not knowing and how easy it is to cheer our kids on as they step into something new while forgetting to cheer ourselves on when we’re uncomfortable, uncertain, or anxious.
We often think discomfort is something we need to get rid of. We want to get back to what feels familiar and comfortable as quickly as possible. But discomfort isn’t bad. Sometimes, it’s simply a sign that we’re stepping into something new.
So as we encourage our kids through another school year, this episode is also an invitation to remember, Discomfort isn’t bad.
