  • What If Burnout Isn't the End of Your Story?
    2026/05/08

What If Burnout Isn't the End of Your Story?

What if the thing that burned you out isn't the end of your story — but the beginning of a better one?

That's not a platitude. It's what actually happened.

In this final episode of the week, I share what came after the breaking point — the season of waiting, seeking, and slowly beginning to hear God again. I share how my wife Wendy and I began praying differently, not asking God to bless our plans but asking Him to define them entirely. And I share two things that happened during that season that I couldn't have seen coming — one heartbreaking, one that felt like an unmistakable answer to prayer.

We also spend time with Joseph — a man whose story is essentially one long string of setbacks that God was quietly weaving into something none of Joseph's circumstances suggested was possible. Genesis 50:20 is one of the great verses in all of Scripture, and I think it lands differently when you've lived through something that looked like loss and turned out to be something else entirely.

If you've been in a hard season and you're trying to figure out what God is doing — or whether He's doing anything at all — this episode is for you.

    What we cover:

    • What it looks like to seek God intentionally after burnout strips everything away
    • How praying for a life instead of just a job changed everything
    • What a season of caregiving taught me about what actually matters
    • How Joseph's story reframes what looks like loss in our own lives
    • What it means to let God redirect rather than rushing back to what's familiar

    Free Resource

This week we've covered a lot of ground — burnout, exhaustion, breaking points, and what restoration actually looks like. If you want to go deeper on all of it, I've put together a free guide that pulls it together in one place. It's my gift to you, and I hope it serves you well in whatever season you're in right now.

  • I Knew It Was Coming - But It Still Broke Me
    2026/05/07

I Knew It Was Coming… But It Still Broke Me

Sometimes you can feel something coming long before it arrives.

For two months, I walked into work every day carrying the quiet, growing sense that my job was slipping away. No announcement. No official word. Just that unmistakable tension that tells you something is about to change. And when you're already burned out — already running on empty — that kind of uncertainty doesn't just sit on you. It starts to crush you.

    And then it happened.

In this episode, I share one of the most vulnerable moments of that season — losing my job, and what my best friend said to me afterward that I wasn't prepared to hear. It reframed everything. Because sometimes what feels like loss is actually rescue. And sometimes the breaking point isn't the end of the story — it's where God finally gets our full attention.

We also spend time with Job — a man who lost everything without warning, without explanation, and without easy answers. What I find most comforting about his story isn't that everything worked out. It's that he didn't pretend it was okay. He grieved. He questioned. He wrestled out loud. But he never let go.

If you're in a season where something feels like it's slipping, or you're still trying to make sense of something that already fell apart, this episode is for you.

    What we cover:

    • What two months of anticipating job loss does to a person who's already burned out
    • Why breaking points often reveal what we've quietly been depending on
    • What Job's story teaches us about holding on to God when nothing makes sense
    • How to recognize God's rescue even when it arrives looking like loss

    Free Resource

If today's episode hit close to home, I want to make sure you have something practical to hold onto. I've put together a free guide on burnout — what it really is, what it costs us, and how to begin finding your way back. It's free, and I hope it meets you right where you are.

  • Rest Isn't What You Think It Is
    2026/05/06

Rest Isn't What You Think It Is

You've taken time off before. You've tried to slow down. You've told yourself you just needed a break.

So why are you still tired?

Because there's a difference between stopping and being restored. And most of what we call rest is really just stopping — changing our location, slowing our pace, stepping away from the noise. But if we don't turn toward something that actually restores us, we just end up sitting in a quieter version of the same emptiness.

In this episode, we talk about what real rest actually is — and why so many of us keep chasing it without ever quite finding it. I share what happened during a weekend away in Houston, when I realized I had left the work behind but was still carrying every bit of the weight. And we spend time with one of the most quietly powerful verses about Jesus — the simple habit that kept Him from burning out even when the needs around Him never stopped.

Real rest isn't found in inactivity. It's found in connection. And if you've been trying to recover without really returning to God in the middle of it, this episode is for you.

    What we cover:

    • Why stopping and being restored are two very different things
    • The habit Jesus built into His life before He needed it — and what we can learn from it
    • The difference between stepping away from noise and stepping toward restoration
    • What it looks like to actually come to God in the middle of exhaustion

    Free Resource

If today's episode resonated with you, I've put together a free guide on burnout — what it really is, what it costs us, and how to begin finding your way back to restoration. It's my gift to you, and I hope it meets you right where you are.
