Welcome back to our (hopefully) more regularly scheduled podcast, where we decided that things work better when we do one episode at a time! So, in recognition of that truth, please enjoy over an hour of us discussing the first episode of our favorite season of Dirty Pair Flash, which sets up the framing device for this season and also re-establishes Kei and Yuri as partners who know how to work with one another and also probably kiss. Also, meet Touma, who is here to be punched sometimes and is good at computers. Also, meet the 90s, which somehow takes a step back from the 80s when it comes to trans rep in this series.

Well it isn't pretty (the audio file) but we managed to hold Audacity to task long enough to edit down and publish this, our final episode dealing with the first series (season?) of Dirty Pair FLASH! It's hella climactic, the stakes are hella high, and the universe at large... doesn't actually care what the man on the television is ranting about. It's some of the best work that this first season does, and it wraps everything up as well as you can wrap a thing up in six episodes. Also, it turns out we liked this season! Another win for giving things a second chance, I guess. Dirty Pair FLASH season 1: it's better than you remember it being!

Next up: the season that we remembered liking a lot! I've just watched the first episode in preparation for our imminent recording session for this season, and I gotta say: It's good! Please look forward to us going back to the one episode per podcast format, maybe. It'll be a surprise to you, and to us, when we record! Who can say what we'll decide to do?

From a noir revenge tale to being a gamer girl, these two episodes of Dirty Pair FLASH sure do cover a lot of ground, and so do we! Our trip through the first season of Dirty Pair FLASH continues apace as we discuss Twin Peaks, Professor Wattsman, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, circa 1996 or so. I guess we also talk about Dirty Pair FLASH in this one too, somehow.

Also somehow all of my audio clips except the last few disappeared and I didn't have time to find them all and put them back in. I'm sorry, you'll just have to dream of a better world where Audacity wasn't a piece of shit to me.

It's been a while, but we've come back after a break to crack open the somewhat curious artefact that is Dirty Pair: FLASH! We also decided now's as good a time as any to switch things up and do two episodes of the show in one episode of podcast, because the first and second seasons of FLASH are both short (6 and 5 episodes) and tell an ongoing story, as opposed to the more Mission of the Week format of previous incarnations of Dirty Pair. Does that mean these are longer and more of a pain in my ass to edit? Maybe a little. Does it give me an excuse to switch between the Japanese and English audio tracks when I put in clips from the show? There's only one way to find out!

Dirty Pair FLASH! Maybe it's not as bad as we thought it would be! Give it a listen and find out what we think about all of this nonsense, and then come back in two weeks when we'll tackle episodes 3 and 4 of this little season, Frozen Angel and Sleeping Angel.

It wouldn't be the end of a series if we didn't provide an extra-long episode, and it wouldn't be the Dirty Pair if they didn't have something interesting to say. This time, we're talking about police corruption in a capitalist system and the only cure for it: collective action! Also, Kei and Yuri get mechs, giant space guns, and, of course, rocket launchers. Not all at once, though, that would be crazy! And, of course, Kei and Yuri demonstrate their knowledge of the various legal systems that coexist in the galaxy.

And, well, that does it for the Dirty Pair! Everyone wave goodbye to the best gals to ever do it out there in the galaxy. It's the last time we'll see Kei and Yuri in this universe, I'm afraid.

But, well, there's another universe. Similar, but not quite the same. And in April, we're going to dive right into it with Dirty Pair: FLASH! Keep an eye on this here podcastin' feed, and we'll let you know what's up soon as we have it figured out and possibly also recorded.

I'll level with you: I might have lost the plot a little bit somewhere in here. Digressions abound, which is how you can tell which one of us was driving the episode recap. It's fine, don't worry about it, this is still guaranteed to be a memorable episode of Project P.O.D. as we take a pilgrimage to the past to solve a 20-year old mystery. Who's responsible for the tragedy of the White Swan? Is cryosleep an acceptable way to preserve one's looks as they age? Have you ever wondered what the publisher of the novel 1984 said upon reading it for the first time?

Weirdly enough, these questions all get answered on this episode of Dirty Pair: Project P.O.D! We're in the endgame now, with just two episodes left before we complete our year-long journey through this frankly incredible anime, and we're so glad that you've stayed with us all this time. Gosh, it feels like forever since I last did this, but it hasn't been that long, has it? We return and bring in the new year with another cracker of an episode of the Dirty Pair OVA series! Shinichiro Watanabe returns to the director's seat to walk us through the seedy world of underground fighting, super-steroid use, and long-simmering grudges. You know, the kind of stuff you'd expect.

Unexpected, perhaps, is the colossal muscle woman who drives the action of this episode, yet another example of the 3WA cleaning up its own mess, and another example of Kei having to fight a giant muscle lady (remember when the Pair fought a pair of professional wrestlers over ownership of a cat? I sure do). There's also the requisite amount of Kei and Yuri acting like, well, partners, if you take our meaning. One day those crazy kids will figure it out, I'm sure. Perhaps next episode? I don't remember which one that is, actually. Only one way to find out, and that's to keep subscribed to this here podcast!
