  • Bonus Episode: The Didn't Go Platinum Outbreak Festival Review
    2026/07/21

It's a special festival review episode of the Didn't Go Platinum podcast. Regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined by hardcore scholars Chris Earl and Ellis Heasley to discuss this year's Outbreak festival in depth.

We look at all the important questions surrounding Britain's biggest hardcore fest: were the vegan brownies good? What's the best way to smuggle mini cheddars into a festival? And what's with all the Wu-Tang Clan being played on the PA?

Oh, and we discuss the veritable mountain of bands that we saw and enjoyed. From Fiddlehead to Alexisonfire to Trapped Under Ice to Static Dress, Hatebreed, Converge, Ingrown, Trash Talk, I Promise The World, and a bunch of others.

Join us for a stage-diving, crowd-killing, circle-pitting extravaganza. And if anyone did get video of Ellis doing a cartwheel, please send it in.

You can follow Didn't Go Platinum on Instagram and Threads at @dngplatinum or email the show at dngplatinum@gmail.com

Be sure to check out Outbreak Festival too, it's bloody great.

  • S3, E11: Act Of God by Znowhite
    2026/07/09

Didn't Go Platinum unearths a real gem in this latest episode. Regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined by Judicator guitarist and Transgressive genius Alicia Cordisco to discuss Act Of God by Znowhite, a thrash metal band that even hardcore genre fans rarely mention.

Act Of God was the only full-length this Chicago-based group ever recorded, which is a damn shame because it's bloody great. It's a vibrant and energetic slice of melodic thrash packed with choruses and riffs, not to mention a standout vocal performance from singer Nicole Lee.

Join us as we take a deep dive into this forgotten classic and explore why it was overlooked. Spoiler: because of the artwork. The dreadful, dreadful artwork.

You can follow Alicia online by visiting her Linktree and exploring her various musical projects.

You can also follow Didn't Go Platinum on Instagram and Threads at @dngplatinum, or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

And be sure to check out Act Of God on Spotify.

  • S3, E10: Into The Unknown by Bad Religion
    2026/06/23

Bad Religion's controversial Into The Unknown is widely detested, including by the band themselves, but on the latest episode of Didn't Go Platinum, we make the case that it's way better than you might think.

Regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined once again by Matt Hudson of Battle Born to discuss the album that nearly led to a premature end to Bad Religion. The punk icons added keyboards and sunshine pop melodies and wrote a miniature prog gem that has more in common with Jethro Tull than anything you'd find on the Warped Tour. Join us for a freewheeling defence of one of punk's most despised records.

You can follow Didn't Go Platinum on Threads and Instagram at @dngplatinum or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

Find Matt and the rest of the Battle Born lads on Instagram and Bandcamp.

And be sure to listen to Into The Unknown on YouTube, which remains the only place we could find it.

  • Special Episode: The Terror Tapes by Gama Bomb
    2026/06/04

Didn't Go Platinum revisits a terrific thrash album while exploring the origins of the podcast itself! Regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined by Philly Byrne and Joe McGuigan of Gama Bomb to discuss the making of 2013's The Terror Tapes.

This was the band's fourth full-length album and first for AFM, and it tends to get overshadowed by their previous ones, but it's a banger. It's a delightful thrash metal journey into a world of violent movies, anti-fascism, and the joy of shouting 'balls' in a gang.

It also served as the inspiration for Didn't Go Platinum itself. Tim got the idea for the show while writing this retrospective for Distorted Sound magazine, and the podcast wouldn't exist without it.

Join us for a deep dive into an overlooked gem, before the sticky buns get possessed and run off.

You can follow Didn't Go Platinum on Threads and Instagram at @dngplatinum or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

You can find all things Gama Bomb on Bandcamp, Instagram, and Facebook.

And listen to The Terror Tapes on Spotify. Thrash 'til death.

  • S3, E9: Declaration by Bleeding Through
    2026/05/19

Didn't Go Platinum is off to Orange County, California. Regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined by Jordan Gaw, singer for rising American metallers Against The Grave, to dress up like Spartans and discuss Declaration by Bleeding Through.

Upon its release, the band was engaged in a very public feud with their record label. However, this controversy appears to have overshadowed the music itself. Declaration is really bloody good.

The lads do a deep dive into this oft-overlooked metalcore album and explain why it deserves to be rediscovered. Plus, Tim makes an absolutely massive factual error about Corrosion Of Conformity, which we're all going to politely ignore. We shan't be telling Metal Hammer about that now, shall we?

You can check out Against The Grave on Instagram and listen to their music on Spotify.

You can also follow Didn't Go Platinum on Instagram and Threads at @dngplatinum or check out Tim's Substack.

And of course, check out Declaration by Bleeding Through on Spotify.

    Stay positive, stay metal.

  • S3, E8: Labyrinth by Dissentient
    2026/05/05

We're travelling into space with the Mechanicus Cult on the latest episode of Didn't Go Platinum. Regular host Tim Bolitho-Jones is joined by the returning Fae Scott Dench (aka the Death Metal Mum) to discuss Labyrinth by Dissentient.

This hour-long slice of highly technical, futuristic death metal is barely mentioned outside some very small circles, but it's excellent. Dissentient are Canada's unsung heroes of future death and Labyrinth is a blast. Find out why.

You can find Fae on Instagram and discover more about her own podcast here.

Follow Didn't Go Platinum on Instagram and Threads at @dngplatinum or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

And of course, check out Labyrinth by Dissentient (not Dissentient by Labyrinth as Tim mistakenly calls it at one point) on Bandcamp.

  • Bonus Episode: Going To The Movies With Evil Scarecrow - Last Action Hero
    2026/04/07

It's a special episode of the Didn't Go Platinum podcast, as Tim is joined by Dr Hell and Count Gravedigga of Evil Scarecrow for a trip to the cinema! We're revisiting the soundtrack to Last Action Hero, the cult classic Arnold Schwarzenegger movie from 1993.

With a host of artists on the track list, including AC/DC, Cypress Hill, Queensryche, Alice In Chains, and Anthrax (kinda), this soundtrack is a snapshot of nineties alt-music. Hard rock, rap, and thrash metal sit side-by-side as Arnie delivers one-liners, bad guys get gunned down, and Charles Dance portrays a character so evil, he'd make Tywin Lannister wince.

And along the way, we discover the origin of the word 'wanker.'

There are a few tangents in this episode.

You can find Evil Scarecrow online at Facebook and Instagram.

You can also follow Didn't Go Platinum on Threads and Instagram at @dngplatinum, or email us at dngplatinum@gmail.com

Big thank you to Jimi from Bangers and Mosh for making the thumbnail for this episode at short notice.

    Listen to metal.
