The Diamondbacks added Jesus Sanchez off waivers from Toronto to fill their 40-man roster, but had to send struggling prospect Tommy Troy down to Triple-A Reno to make room. Sanchez, a lefty with solid stats against right-handed pitching, is expected to start as a DH to bolster a lineup that’s lacked power against righties. Troy, despite his defensive versatility, hasn’t produced offensively in limited MLB action. With Carroll and Nootbaar already anchoring the outfield, Sanchez’s role is clearly defined: offense first, defense second.
