(Joshua 1:9)Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. DEVOTIONAL:I find myself alone a lot. At home, at work, and sometimes going out to eat or shopping, I'm by myself. I like it for the most part because I can get in and out of the store while shopping so much faster than if I were with someone. Eating alone used to bother me, but not so much anymore. I've gotten used to it. Watching a movie used to seem weird to me, at first, but having done it a few times, it really isn't bad. I don't have to worry about munching loudly on my popcorn, and if I cry during a sad scene, I don't have to pretend -- I can wipe my tears freely without anyone scrutinizing or making fun of me. One thing I do find myself doing a lot when I am alone, mostly when I am out and about or driving in my car: I will pray. The Holy Spirit speaks to me and shows me things. I admit, I sometimes don't heed the Holy Spirit because I hesitate, the moment passes, or I simply don't hear Him. In hindsight, I always say things like, "Ohhhh, that's what you were showing me?"I'm trying to get better at being still to hear His voice. What I do a lot, too, is read while I'm alone. This year, I have read more books than I have in my years as a Christian. Sad. If there's one thing I know, it's that God is truly with me wherever I go. I may not always get the answer I want to hear, but I know He's with me. I used to believe the devil's lie that God isn't listening. God is truly listening, and His answers are timely. Meaning, God answers when He feels I'm ready to hear. God is teaching me to wait. I am in a season of waiting now.
