In one of his final official acts, Moses pronounces a prophetic blessing on each of the twelve tribes of Israel, echoing Jacob's blessing in Genesis 49 and framed by an introduction depicting Yahweh coming in glory from Sinai with His holy ones to give His law to Israel in love. The individual blessings range from survival for Reuben to prophetic leadership for Judah, priestly calling for Levi, security for Benjamin, fruitfulness for Joseph, commercial prosperity for Zebulun and Issachar, military strength for Gad, and favor for the northern tribes. The song closes with the incomparable declaration: "There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides the heavens to your help...Blessed are you, O Israel; who is like you, a people saved by the LORD?"
