Chapter 30 offers Deuteronomy's most profound hope: even after the full measure of covenant curses falls on Israel in exile, God promises to gather her from the ends of the earth and circumcise her heart so that she loves Him with all her heart — an anticipation of the New Covenant that Constable links to Jeremiah 31 and Ezekiel 36. Obedience is not beyond reach; the word is "very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it" — a text Paul applies in Romans 10 to the righteousness of faith in Christ. Moses then calls heaven and earth as witnesses to the ultimate covenant choice: "I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse — therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live."
