Lawyers for Eddie Duran, the former deputy who shot and killed Airman Roger Fortson while responding to a reported domestic at the Fortson apartment and confronted by Fortson holding a pistol in hand when he opened his door, have been denied an appellate court order for self-defense immunity for their client.

As a result, jury selection in Duran’s manslaughter trial is expected to begin on Monday.

Although the appeal for a writ of prohibition—an order to the trial court to grant immunity—was denied, the argument for that appeal nevertheless does an excellent job of laying out the defense legal arguments and strategy for their client at trial.

As a result, we’ll break down those legal arguments and strategies of that motion in today’s shows.
