If the only difference between implants and dentures were the price, a lot more people would choose dentures. But that is not the real difference. The real difference shows up every time you eat, every time you talk, and every year your jawbone changes shape underneath a denture you cannot see.

In this video, I'm going to break down exactly what changes in your daily life with dentures versus implants, from eating and speech to bone loss and aesthetics, so you can make a decision based on more than just the price tag.

❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
What is the real difference between dental implants and dentures?
Dentures sit on the gum and rely on suction, so they limit what you can eat and cover the roof of your mouth. Implants are anchored into the bone like a natural tooth root, so you can eat normally and taste your food without restriction.

Do dentures cause bone loss over time?
Yes, once a tooth is removed the underlying bone starts to reabsorb, and a denture resting on that ridge speeds up the process. This is why dentures often need to be replaced every two to three years as the jawbone shrinks.

Why do dentures make food taste different?
A denture covers the roof of your mouth with plastic, which blunts taste and changes how hot and cold food feels. Implant supported teeth leave the palate uncovered, so your sense of taste stays close to natural.
