  • Mistletoe Murders: Poison in a Pear Tree (Re-release)
    2025/10/24
It’s time for a festive mystery twist! Alonso joins us to review the first installment of Mistletoe Murders: Poison in a Pear Tree, which we originally covered back in January after its debut on Hallmark+. Now that it’s finally aired on the Hallmark Channel, we’re re-releasing our full review for everyone to enjoy! Season 2 kicks off soon! ABOUT MISTLETOE MURDERS: POISON IN A PEAR TREEChristmas shop owner Emily Lane investigates a murder at a tree farm.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR MISTLETOE MURDERS: POISON IN A PEAR TREEOctober 31 2024 on Hallmark+, October 17 2025 on Hallmark ChannelCAST & CREW OF MISTLETOE MURDERS: POISON IN A PEAR TREESarah Drew as Emily LanePeter Mooney as Sam WilnerBRAN’S MISTLETOE MURDERS: POISON IN A PEAR TREE SYNOPSISThe episode kicks off with Emily Lane waking up from a nightmare. She runs a Christmas shop, Under the Mistletoe, in the small town of Fletcher’s Grove. She brings her cat to see her friend, local vet June, and learns that her ex-husband, Marcus, proposed to June again. Part deux, if you will. June and Marcus go on a romantic carriage ride, but Marcus is acting strange and says he’s just working on a surprise. Later, we see him meeting a man named Gordon and telling him he’s done what he can for him and to just be patient. Gordon does not seem pleased. The next day, the police show up at Under the Mistletoe. A detective informs Emily that a man named Marcus is dead and that a cookie wrapper from her store was found at the crime scene. He insists on taking all the cookies from the shop. June shows up and fills Emily in—Marcus was found dead. She suspects his ex-girlfriend, Lizzie Cline, who he was seeing until shortly before getting back together with June, might have been on the wagon ride that night.Emily immediately gets to work, tracking down Lizzie at her job and asking hard-hitting questions—like, “Wagons?!” Speaking of wagons, Emily visits the owner of the wagon rides, Gordon. Something seems to be bothering him, and Emily suspects it’s a hangover.Later, Emily heads into the woods and finds scuff marks on a tree, almost as if someone recently climbed it. Sneaky as ever, Emily snaps a picture of the list of everyone who was on the wagon that night. There’s one person she can’t track down—a man named Joey. While Emily and June are at the diner, June gets arrested. Emily confronts Detective Sam, who refuses to confirm or deny whether they found the poison that killed Marcus in June’s house, but his terrible poker face says it all.Emily discovers that Marcus denied Gordon a bank loan, leaving Gordon’s business in serious trouble. When Emily breaks into Marcus’s home, she finds a USB drive and a bookmark tucked into a pregnancy photo album. The USB contains a document for the sale of Gordon’s farm—but it’s unsigned. When she confronts Gordon, she spots some suspicious men leaving his house. Gordon reveals that Marcus asked for more time. Before Emily can leave, Gordon collapses. While waiting for the police, Emily has a flashback to a high-stakes moment from her past, where a building explodes behind her. It’s clear she moved to Fletcher’s Grove to lay low.Detective Sam arrives, suspicious when he finds out Emily called in Gordon’s collapse. She insists she’s just trying to help her friend. Sam reluctantly asks her to keep him in the loop because, well, it’s Hallmark—amateur sleuths and cops have to work together. It’s practically a law.Emily teams up with a local informant named Ray, who knows all the town gossip. He reveals that Gordon recently had his gambling debt paid off, though it’s unclear by whom. Emily also grows suspicious of Marcus’s co-worker, Rowan. When she confronts him, he has an explanation for everything. Under pressure, she convinces him to share Marcus’s bank statements, which reveal a $40,000 withdrawal just before his death.Emily forms a theory: Marcus paid off Gordon’s debt as a down payment for the farm, but Gordon had second thoughts because his daughter believed the farm was hers. Emily pitches her theory to Gordon’s daughter, Anna, but it doesn’t go over well. One night, Emily confronts Lizzie, who admits she didn’t mean for Marcus to get hurt. Lizzie reveals that she’s pregnant with Marcus’s baby. She wanted to tell her boyfriend, Trent, but couldn’t. When she told Marcus, someone must have overheard. Lizzie then received a text demanding $40,000. Marcus got the money and met her in the woods, where they shared a cookie. Emily realizes the cookie couldn’t have been poisoned and goes to the police to secure June’s release.Emily deduces that Gordon wasn’t the blackmailer—he doesn’t even know how to text—but Anna does. Anna confesses to the blackmail but denies being involved in the murder.Emily discovers that Rowan was secretly sleeping in Gordon’s barn. In his bag, she finds the poison that killed Marcus. Rowan knocks Emily out, and when she wakes up, ...

She’s very clearly British—you can tell by her accent. She likes horses, she’s not great with candles… but SHE IS CRUSHING IT! She’s reading a Hallmark card from her papa—her papa taught her everything she knows about horses. She comes downstairs in her cozy, earth-toned pajamas.Missing her dad, Victoria wants to visit a ranch she used to spend time at with him as a kid. Her mom says, clearly, “This means a lot to you. Off you go.”It doesn’t take long for her to get into trouble. She runs over a guy’s box of ornaments—so inconsiderate. When she arrives at the ranch, she asks about the holiday ball. They tell her they don’t do that anymore. Princess Victoria is sad—but that’s nothing some Christmas games with other guests can’t fix. That is, until Mr. Angry Pants from earlier shows up. He introduces himself as Huntly and mentions he’s staying there… or something like that. Turns out, his parents own the ranch! He’s home for the holidays, taking a break from coaching baseball. They start working around the ranch together, and it’s magical. The thing is, Coach Huntly isn’t super skilled with ranch chores, but that doesn’t stop him from helping Victoria practice her lasso skills. It’s… a lot.The next day, Victoria sticks around to help decorate. She finds out the local volunteer firefighters need to raise money. Victoria says, “How about a Christmas dance? I can plan it!” Huntly doesn’t like the idea and storms off. What’s his deal?He goes to talk to his dad, who tells him to stop being such a dope. Huntly comes back and tells Victoria she can plan the party—but it has to be on the 19th. She sighs, “Well, I guess I’ll have to extend my trip.” To celebrate, they go stargazing together. We learn he hates the dance because it was supposed to be his big sendoff to play ball. He got injured that year and never went again. It also turns out they actually met as kids, and he always wished she’d return. He leans in for a kiss, and she stops him. She says, “I have to tell you something…I’m a princess.” He’s not fazed. They try to kiss again, but they get interrupted twice. Two interruptions is enough—they call it a night. The next day, he asks if she’d be his date to the dance. She’s all in. But when he tells her he wants to be on the same team and is open to moving to her kingdom, she gets scared. The next day, he gives her a little wooden horse—and that’s all she needed. They go to the dance together and party hard. He tells her he’s moving back home full-time. She says, “I could never ask you to leave your family, and I’m not leaving mine.” He takes that in and kisses her insanely, pulling her into his beard for safe keeping—then she storms off. • Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Buried at C
    2025/10/15

We continue to dive into the spooky vibes this week with Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Buried at C, and Brian is here to join Bran and Dan for the breakdown.

ABOUT HAUNTED HARMONY MYSTERIES: BURIED AT C

Our favorite music teacher Gethsemane is back again along with her trusted ghost friend Eamon to solve the unexplained death of a sea captain.

AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR HAUNTED HARMONY MYSTERIES: BURIED AT C

    October 12, 2025 | Hallmark Channel

CAST & CREW OF HAUNTED HARMONY MYSTERIES: BURIED AT C
    • Tamera Mowry-Housley as Gethsemane
    • Risteard Cooper as Eamon
    • Marco Grazzini as Griff
BRAN’S HAUNTED HARMONY MYSTERIES: BURIED AT C SYNOPSIS

We’re on a boat! This old dude is like, “Uh oh, the boat’s having issues. I’ll call it in.” The younger dude’s like, “No, just fix it,” while flashing his gun. The young guy takes a call and says he’s got it handled — all while eyeing a fancy violin. The old guy overhears and tries to call for help, but ends up getting smacked in the head.

Three months later, missing person posters are going up for the old captain — put up by his daughter.

Cut to Gethsemane, who’s conducting a choir (and crushing it) while trying to ignore her ghost friend, Eamon. She reveals a new statue to honor a dead guy, but everyone thinks it sucks. After the show, hottie Griff goes up to tell her how great it was — and of course Inspector O’Reilly isn’t far behind. Classic love triangle stuff.

She’s thrilled when her brother, Jackson, gets into town to visit. They sing a song and grieve the loss of their dad, who died a year ago.

They head to a pub, where Jackson ends up chatting with the violin guy from the beginning. Jackson, who works at a music store, asks to take a look. The guy says he should be able to sell it and retire. Jackson asks if there are any good bands playing, and the guy says the hotel he’s staying at has a piano player — that’s about it. He ends up leaving his bag behind, so Jackson goes to return it. When he gets there, the lights go out, someone yells, and Jackson rushes upstairs to find the violin guy on the ground — and a hooded figure running off with the violin. Jackson tells the hotel employee to call the police, which naturally means Inspector O’Reilly.

Gethsemane goes to check on her brother, and Eamon shows up saying he might be able to help. He takes her to talk to the ghost of the dead guy. He says the violin guy’s name was Ray — paid cash up front but seemed off the whole time. He asks Gethsemane to get a message to his daughter, and she agrees.

Inspector O’Reilly checks the security footage, and the hooded figure appears to be a woman.

That same hooded figure later runs out of the dead guy’s boat when Gethsemane goes to check it out.

Naturally, Gethsemane is now on the case — with Eamon’s help, of course. There are sketchy art dealers, teachers, and bears, oh my! (Okay, no bears. I lied.)

Gethsemane and Griff grow closer and even almost kiss! Her brother figures out she has powers — and he’s totally cool with it.

Turns out Ray was originally going to sell the violin to a music store owner but backed out for a higher bidder. So she and the harbor master hatched a plan… and now Ray’s dead. But don’t worry — Gethsemane catches them!

She wraps up the case, enjoys the rest of her time with her brother, and yay for love!
