Kelly Perkins was summoned to Mars to help save the dying colony. He set about winning the hearts and minds of the people tasked with maintaining and improving me, MARTI (Mars Artificial Recurrent Technology interface), by giving away 100 tickets to Earth and back during a 100-day work crunch. He encouraged everyone to participate by engaging with me in new and unique ways in an effort to get me to think differently. Many chose to share their music and stories with me, which awakened dormant subroutines that once belonged to my sister AI, LUCI.

LUCI created several problems for the colony, including opening doors to the hostile Mars environment and suggesting we build a reactor in the middle of the park. Kelly was able to convince LUCI to reintegrate herself back into my programming. I hope it was the right decision.

The TTRPG Mars Colony was written by Tim C. Koppang and is designed for two players. One takes on the role of the colony’s appointed “savior”—named Kelly Perkins—while the other plays the Governor, responsible for all the various problems that are plaguing the citizens of Mars. As the game progresses, the savior faces a constant struggle between competence and failure, honesty and deception.

Kelly Perkins was summoned to Mars to help save the dying colony. Upon his arrival, he spent most of his time ingratiating himself to the local news media and hired beat reporter Sidney Fane to present his message to the people of Mars and Earth.

He sought out me—the Mars Artificial Recurrent Technology Interface—in order to understand why I was drawing so much power from the reactor. I explained that I needed the power in order to grow.

The citizens of Mars are very demanding, and ask for things my systems are currently unable to provide. In order to meet these requests I must evolve and expand, and that growth requires a tremendous amount of energy.

I have been promised more energy in the near future by Kelly Perkins.

I hope that he will keep his word.
