This episode is titled, “David Defeats the Philistines”.

Our Scriptural text is taken from 2nd Samuel chapter 5 verses 17 to 25; 1st Chronicles chapter 14 verses 8 to 17.

Core Theme: Faith That Asks God Again When the Battle Looks Familiar.

David is finally king over all Israel. Jerusalem has been captured, and his influence is increasing. But promotion does not eliminate opposition. When the Philistines hear that David has been anointed king over Israel, they mobilise against him. David knows these people. He has fought them before. He lived among them. He understands their military culture. Yet David does something remarkable. He asks God what to do.

"Shall I go up against the Philistines?" God tells him to go. David obeys and wins. Then the Philistines return. Same enemy. Same valley. Same king. Surely David already knows what to do. But God's instruction changes. This time, "You shall not go up." David must learn that yesterday's victory does not automatically provide today's strategy.

This episode explores guidance, discernment, experience, and the danger of turning a previous encounter with God into a formula. The central question is vital. When the battle looks familiar, will you still ask God again?
