In this 'Meet the Gurus' discussion, you get to hear from Dave Langer about how data literacy makes everything better...
- Why a small set of simple techniques delivers most of the value in business analytics
- The two questions that matter most: is it working, and why is it working
- Turning qualitative reads of a line chart into quantitative judgments
- Measuring KPIs and metrics over time as the pattern behind nearly every business question
- Vetting data sources, from IT-blessed systems to unofficial "spread marts"
- The four tool buckets: Excel, data visualization, SQL, and R or Python
- Why business domain knowledge is the piece no tool or algorithm replaces
- How Excel becomes the on-ramp to linear regression, SQL, and R
ABOUT OUR GURU

He started in traditional BI and data warehousing while earning a master's in computer science, and has focused on advanced analytics for roughly the past seven years. Through Dave on Data, he creates training courses that teach business analysis, linear regression, SQL, and R using Excel as the frame of reference, centered on the small set of techniques that deliver disproportionate value to working business professionals.
