  • DJ Paulette on longevity, the Hacienda and equality
    2024/02/15

This episode features a bonafide legend! If you've heard of one UK club it's probably the Hacienda. DJ Paulette was one of the only female residents at legendary queer night Flesh, kicking off a multi-decade-spanning career that's taken in residencies in Ibiza, London and Paris and regularly playing alongside the likes of David Guetta and Bob Sinclair. Her journey hasn't always been smooth; in her new book 'Welcome To The Club' she discusses the sexism, racism, ageism and homophobia that she's had to overcome. Despite this Paulette remains as optimistic and passionate about the power of DJing as ever and talks about the new generation of black female DJs like Jamz Supernova, Jaguar, Anz and our very own Erica McKoy have inspired her.

A must-listen for anyone in music wanting to build a long-term career, Paulette reveals how to read a room, how to overcome quiet periods and why sometimes it's problematic to have an identical twin to step in for you...
