Therefore, a person who desires his own welfare should first carefully examine all the worldly pleasures of this world and the next — the results of actions performed with desire (sakama karma). He should realize that all enjoyments, from this earthly realm up to Brahmaloka (the highest celestial realm), are devoid of true happiness, transient, and ultimately lead to sorrow.

Hence, renunciation of all sensual pleasures is the supreme duty of those who seek liberation (mumukshu). Moreover, all actions performed with the egoistic sense of doership and desire for results yield only temporary fruits. The Eternal Lord — who is beyond all action — cannot be attained through such impermanent, desire-motivated deeds.

Episode 95 - The Krishnamurti Video Podcast with Sam Yogi - Acting Completely

Krishnamurti, Ommen, Holland, August 11, 1933: You have a spiritual standard, a social standard, and a business standard, and you are acting according to these standards, and you call that ACTION. Such action, to me, is purely IMITATING. It is not action at all, it is just COPYING. In it, there is NO THINKING, real individual thinking, QUESTIONING. You are trying to approach the WHOLENESS through the part. You say, "I will make the ECONOMIC CONDITION perfect, or the SOCIAL CONDITION perfect, or the SPIRITUAL CONDITION perfect, and I will GET THE WHOLE." You CANNOT. You MUST approach it COMPLETELY, and your ACTIONS must be COMPLETE. That means that TO THINK IS TO ACT - you cannot separate it - TO FEEL IS TO ACT. You CANNOT DIVIDE and say, "I will feel one thing and act another," or, "I will think one thing and feel another." In such action there is ALWAYS a FINALITY, and hence there is FEAR OF DEATH, of UNFULFILLED OPPORTUNITIES, and therefore a LOOKING to the future. But when you act COMPLETELY, that ACTION IS INFINITE. And you will not understand what that is until your BUSINESS, SOCIAL, and RELIGIOUS life are completely HARMONIZED.

When a man, being asleep, enters the state of deep sleep (suṣupti) and sees no dreams, then at that time, speech—along with all names—merges into this vital force (prāṇa). The eyes, along with all forms, merge into this prāṇa. The ears, along with all sounds, become absorbed into prāṇa, and the mind, along with all objects of thought, attains dissolution in this same prāṇa.

Then, when this man awakens, just as with the rising of the sun all creatures—animals, birds, and humans—engage in their respective daily activities, in the same way, from this Self (Ātman), all the organs such as speech and others emerge and proceed toward their respective fields of experience.

  • Episode 94 - The Krishnamurti (VIDEO) Podcast with Sam Yogi - Self-Preservation - October 31, 2025
    2025/10/31

KRISHNAMURTI, OMMEN, HOLLAND, AUGUST 11, 1933: ACTION means CONFORMITY to the majority of people: IMITATION, or STRUGGLING to reach an end, a RESULT. So, ACTION means, generally, SELF-PRESERVATION.

    Episode 94 - The Krishnamurti (VIDEO) Podcast with Sam Yogi - Self-Preservation - October 31, 2025

Live Premiere on YouTube at 8:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST) - 8 AM USA Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) - HAPPY HALLOWEEN: https://youtu.be/deIkpUkJq5Y

Action often means conforming to the majority—imitating or striving to achieve a certain result. Essentially, action is usually about self-preservation. While it may not seem obvious, we’ve refined and spiritualized it to the point where self-preservation feels almost sacred. What you call action is actually conformity, and I’ll try to explain that this conformity isn’t spontaneous, natural, or complete. It’s always about adhering to something.Business is rooted in self-preservation. You think, "I must earn, or society will destroy me. Who will care for me in old age?" All of this stems from the concept of self-preservation, including passing down what you've accumulated to your children and so on. Your actions are always constrained, disconnected from what you think and feel, like the person who says, "Bread first." You think, "Let me act to gain security and power, then I’ll behave differently, socially and spiritually." You’ve set what you believe to be the ultimate economic goal and constantly work toward it. As a result, your actions become imitation and conformity. You are not truly acting or being a complete individual in your endeavors.

Indra, the king of the gods, said to King Pratardana: “O Pratardana! I slew Vishvarupa, the son of Prajapati, who used to worship other gods in different forms for the fulfillment of his desires, with my thunderbolt (vajra). Yet I have no sense of doership; there is no ego of action in me. My intellect does not become attached anywhere, nor does any desire for the fruits of action ever arise in my mind. Therefore, no good or evil deed can bind me.”

  • Episode 93 - The Krishnamurti Podcast with Sam Yogi | Thought, Feeling, Action - October 28, 2025
    2025/10/28

KRISHNAMURTI, Ommen, Holland, August 11, 1933: To me, when I use the word ACTION, it implies the whole of THOUGHT, FEELING, and ACTION. When it is harmonious, when a thought is born or there is emotion and hence action, out of that COMPLETENESS, out of that HARMONIOUS thinking, feeling, and acting, then that act is INFINITE, and to me such action is complee; in it there are no HINDRANCES, no DISTINCTION or resistance between thought, emotion, and action. To me, to think is to act, or to feel is to act; you cannot separate thinking, feeling, and acting into three different things - it is all ONE. To me, to FEEL is to THINK, or to ACT is to THINK and to FEEL, so you cannot separate - at least I do not SEPARATE. ACTION then is WHOLE; action is the OUTCOME of complete UNITY of MIND and HEART.
