In this Daily Devotion for October 9, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 85:1-3, where remembering comes before requesting. God forgave the iniquity of His people, covered all their sin, and withdrew His wrath completely, not partway, giving the writer solid ground to stand on before asking for anything new.

This devotion carries that forgiveness forward to its complete fulfillment in Jesus. At the cross, God's wrath against sin was not simply withdrawn for a season. It was fully satisfied, once and for all, so that it never needs to fall on you again. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, your sin covered completely, the same way Israel's was covered here. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper that same covered sin is proclaimed again, His true body and blood given for the forgiveness of sins.

When you pray today, begin the same way this psalm begins. Remember first what God has already forgiven in Christ. Let that memory become the solid ground you stand on, no matter what you are asking Him for next.
