In this Daily Devotion for October 8, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 84:10-12, where a single day near God outweighs a thousand elsewhere, and even the lowest position in His house beats any comfort found far from Him. Favor and honor are given freely first, with uprightness following as fruit rather than payment.
This devotion applies that same order to life in Christ. Jesus did not wait for you to walk uprightly before loving you. He loved you first, completely, and gave everything for you at the cross. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, given freely before any good work follows. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper that same favor comes to us again, undeserved, His true body and blood given for the forgiveness of sins.
Take your place today, whatever small place that might be. Being close to God, even in the lowest position, still beats anything found far from Him. Blessed is the one who trusts in Him, not the one who tries hardest to earn His favor.
