  • The AgeFold Conversation
    2026/06/17
Most Americans underestimate the power of simple movement, especially as we age. But what if just moving more could dramatically reduce chronic illnesses, improve balance, and even fend off dementia? Adrienne Shaw, a seasoned yoga instructor and senior health advocate, reveals how the secret to vibrant aging is rooted in one word: movement. In this eye-opening conversation, Adrienne shares her firsthand observations from years teaching seniors in DC—discovering that effortless movement equals better recovery, less pain, and a stronger body. She explains why moving isn't just about staying flexible; it can literally save your life. You'll uncover how regular exercise can lower blood pressure, improve mental clarity, and prevent falls—arguably the most dangerous risk for older adults. She is a certified yoga instructor and senior wellness advocate actively serving the DC community, renowned for her holistic, compassionate approach that's transforming lives. You will learn concrete strategies she uses in her classes, including easy balance exercises and practical tips for staying active at any age. She emphasizes the importance of mindset shifts—reimagining wellness as a lifelong habit, not a quick fix. Plus, get insider tips on free community resources like local gardens, senior centers, and accessible transportation, all designed to keep older Americans moving and thriving—without breaking the bank. Why do so many seniors fall into a cycle of inactivity that leads to dependence and decline? Because they don't know movement is medicine. This episode is essential listening if you're an older adult, caregiver, or health advocate eager to unlock the secret to aging gracefully, naturally, and powerfully. If you believe aging is about slowing down, think again. Movement is the ultimate fountain of youth, and this conversation will inspire you to take your first step today—because your best years are still ahead. Dive in to learn how just a little movement can make a big difference-and why your health depends on it. • Love, Grief, and the Connectivity of Care
    2026/04/30

Welcome back to the relaunch of Cut the BS: Your Health, Your Choice. I am your host, Marcia Lee. This show is about reclaiming our power through real food and real choices. But health is not just about what is on your food—it is about the systems we live in and the communities that hold us up.

Today, I am honored to introduce a voice that embodies the 'brave space' we talk about so often on this show, K'La Jackson, founder of Obatala's Children.

    About K'La

K'la is a mother, birth worker, and brave space curator dedicated to the intersection of reproductive justice and disability advocacy. Over the past decade, she has walked alongside families navigating the complexities of the NICU and social service systems.

In 2021, she founded Obatala's Children to empower Black families with disabilities to thrive through collective care and storytelling. This mission is deeply personal, born from the life and legacy of her son, Kweli. Through this podcast and her work, La honors his memory by fostering the connectivity of love and grief for families similar to hers.
