Holman recounts the inspiration behind his song “Richard’s Story,” born from a poem about a farmer’s son who died in Vietnam. They discuss the lasting impact of wartime losses, the challenges of returning home, the draft experience, and their reflections on how military service shaped their lives.

The 2026 Azalea Festival Pageant and Queen Coronation will take place on Saturday night, May 2, at the Brookings Elks Lodge. Doors open at 5:30 PM, with the event starting at 6:00 PM.
