Culture & Covenant is a podcast for people navigating the tension between the world we live in and the faith we’re called to live out.

Hosted by Timothy (@timothyvealjr), each episode explores real conversations at the intersection of faith, culture, leadership, relationships, and everyday life. We tackle the questions many people are asking—but few are discussing with honesty and biblical conviction.

What happens when culture celebrates what your covenant challenges?

What do you do when your environment pulls you one way, but your faith calls you another?

This isn’t a podcast of easy answers or surface-level conversations. It’s a place to wrestle with truth, examine culture through a biblical lens, and grow in faithfulness in a rapidly changing world.

Because culture will always speak.

But covenant has to answer.

  • Who’s Paying for Your Calling?
    2026/08/25

What’s the point of the world knowing your name if your family barely knows you?

There was a time when I sacrificed my family for ministry—and convinced myself it was faithfulness. I called it commitment. Sacrifice. Answering the call.

But I’ve learned there’s a dangerous difference between your family participating in the sacrifice and your family becoming the sacrifice.

In this episode of Culture & Covenant, we wrestle with the tension between calling and covenant. What happens when ministry, leadership, career, or ambition begins demanding more than it should? Is exhaustion really evidence of faithfulness? Does constantly “burning the candle at both ends” actually honor God—or have we spiritualized an unhealthy way of living?

There are seasons when our families graciously agree to sacrifice with us because something truly important requires extra time and attention. But those seasons should be built on conversation, agreement, and a reputation of presence—not an expectation that everyone else simply absorbs the cost of our ambition.

I haven’t mastered this. I’m still making these decisions every day. But I know I don’t want to go back to the way I once lived.

So here’s the question: If the people closest to you could determine your priorities only by your time, attention, and presence—what would they say matters most?

Whatever God allows us to build, may we never build it by tearing down what He entrusted to us first.

  • Believers Are Tired of Pretending They're Okay
    2026/08/25

Many Christians are carrying more than anyone realizes.

Behind the smiles, the "I'm blessed" responses, and the faithful routines, many believers are quietly exhausted—trying to appear strong while feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or alone.

In a culture that rewards image and performance, it's easy to confuse looking spiritually healthy with actually being spiritually healthy. But Jesus never asked us to pretend. He invites us into honesty, healing, and real freedom.

In this episode, Timothy explores why so many believers are tired of pretending they're okay—and why healing often begins where performance ends.

What do you think? Has the Church created enough space for honest conversations about struggle?
