The Chicago Cubs fell to the San Diego Padres in the NL Wild Card Series, ending an 89-73 season. In this mailbag, we analyze Jed Hoyer's urgent need for pitching acquisitions given the extensive injury list, including Justin Steele and Lucas Giolito. We discuss the Alex Bregman and Gabriel Arias platoon at third base, evaluate the outfield depth with Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong, and predict the Cubs' path to 2027.

Key topics include the impact of robot umpires on plate discipline, the status of injured players like Miguel Andujar and Gavin Sheets, and the potential trade of Clay Holmes. We also touch on the federal ruling regarding Wrigley Field rooftop businesses. Hosts Stephanie and Sean provide tactical insights into the roster construction and offseason strategy.

Listeners will hear predictions about the Cubs landing a mid-tier ace and a veteran closer. We explore the depth chart featuring Shota Imanaga, Kevin Gausman, and Nico Hoerner, assessing whether the team can rebound from their playoff exit.
