  • When You’ve Prayed and Nothing Changes [When You Don’t Know What To Pray, part 6]
    2026/08/13

Psalm 130 shows us how to keep praying and waiting with hope when nothing changes by trusting God’s forgiveness, faithful love, and abundant redemption.

Main Ideas: Waiting in the unknown is one of the most desperate feelings in the world. Even when nothing is changing, we can wait with hope because God hasn’t changed. Sometimes the most faithful prayer is just: “God, please listen to me.” Our failures don’t make God turn away from us. We can wait with confident hope because we can trust the character of God. Waiting on God isn’t knowing what He’ll do next. It’s trusting who He is before you know what happens next. Our hope is based on God’s faithful love, forgiveness, and abundant redemption There is more redemption in God than there is brokenness in us. In Jesus, God has already shown us that He is for us. We can’t see the future, but we can look to Jesus.

Invitation: Four Practices When God Seems Silent: Name the depths: “God, I feel stuck in __________. I don’t know what to do. Please listen to me.” Remember God’s forgiveness: “God, thank You that my failures don’t put me beyond Your mercy. With You there is forgiveness.” Wait with hope: “God, I don’t know what You’re going to do. Help me trust who You are and keep looking for the light.” Don’t wait alone: “Give me people who will help me remember Your faithful love.”

  • When You’ve Prayed and Nothing Changes [When You Don’t Know What To Pray, part 6]
    2026/08/17

Psalm 143 shows us how to seek God’s direction when we feel overwhelmed, uncertain, and unable to see the way forward.

Main Ideas: When the stakes are high, the pressure to make the right decision can be completely overwhelming. Faith doesn’t always make the fear disappear. Sometimes faith looks like telling God how afraid you actually are. What God has done before reminds us WHO He is NOW. God’s love gives us a firm foundation from which to take our next steps. God’s not only concerned with where we walk, but with who we are becoming as we walk. Following Jesus isn’t a way to guarantee the outcome we want. It means becoming like the One we’re following. We may not know exactly where the road leads, but we know who we are following.

Invitation: Think of one situation where you can’t see the way forward.

Pray: Let me hear of Your love Show me the way I should go. Teach me to do Your will. Lead me by Your Spirit.

  • You Don’t Have to Carry the Weight of the World [When You Don’t Know What To Pray, part 5]
    2026/08/05

When the world feels overwhelming, it’s easy to believe you’re either too small to matter or responsible for fixing everything. Psalm 8 reveals a better way to live: care faithfully for what God has placed in your hands, take the next step, and trust Him with what you can’t control.

Main Ideas: We feel insignificant… but at the same time responsible for everything. God hasn’t asked you to carry the world. He has entrusted you with a part of it to care for. It isn’t our job to hold everything together. Our limitations don’t limit God. You may be small compared with the universe, but you are not overlooked by its Maker. Our worth isn’t something we achieve. It’s a gift from our Creator. You are not the center of the universe. But you are deeply known and loved by the One who is. God created you to care for part of the world… not carry the weight of the world. You are too small to carry the world, but too loved to be insignificant.

Invitation: Spend some time outside without your phone. Look at something you didn’t create and can’t control.

Pray: “God, you are bigger than I remember, and I am more loved than I realize. Show me what is mine to care for, and help me trust you with what isn’t mine to carry.”

Then ask yourself 3 questions: What is mine to care for? What is mine to do next? What is not mine to control?

  • How to Trust God When Life Feels Out of Control [When You Don’t Know What To Pray, part 4]
    2026/07/22

When you can’t control what happens next, Psalm 121 reminds us that we are kept by the God who never stops watching over us.

Main Ideas: If you feel it, you can pray it. Deep down, we know how little control we actually have. You can’t control what happens next. But you can trust the God who never stops watching over you. The One who created the mountains is not intimidated by the mountains in front of you. Feeling abandoned and being abandoned are not always the same thing. Your life is never unattended. God’s promise isn’t that you’ll never be harmed. It’s that no harm can ever separate you from him. God didn’t keep Jesus from the cross. God kept him through the cross… and raised him beyond it. You can’t keep everything together… but God will keep you.

Invitation: Pray: God keep me. And God, keep them.

  • Why Does Life Feel So Unfair? What to Do When Others Seem to Have It Better [When You Don’t Know What To Pray, part 3]
    2026/07/13

When life feels unfair and other people seem to have it better, Psalm 73 shows how to overcome envy, comparison, and bitterness by finding a deeper security in God.

Main Ideas: Life isn’t fair. But we think it should be. If you feel it, you can pray it. When we compare, life almost always starts to feel unfair. Envy is resenting that they have it… because somewhere inside us, we believe we deserve it more. Our proximity to God helps shape our perspective. Temporary success is not the same thing as a secure life. Comparison and envy blind us to reality. Comparison keeps us staring at what others have until we forget what we have in God. If life has ever looked unfair… It looked unfair at the cross. Life isn’t fair. But God is still good.

Invitation: Start noticing the comparisons that are shaping you. Whenever you catch yourself comparing your life with someone else’s, write it down. Ask: What am I believing their success could give me? What have I forgotten about what I already have in Jesus? Then turn it into prayer.

  • When God Feels Far Away: A Prayer for Pain, Doubt, and Honest Faith [When You Don’t Know What To Pray, part 2]
    2026/07/06

When God feels far away and life hurts too much to fake it, Psalm 13 shows us how to turn our pain into honest prayer and trust the God whose love refuses to let us go.

Main Ideas: Most of us have been trained to avoid pain at all costs. If you feel it, you can pray it. Pain has a way of making the present feel permanent. Real prayer begins with bringing the real you to the real God. Asking God for help isn’t weakness. It’s faith admitting where our help actually comes from. Sometimes faith is, “God feels far away, but I’m still turning toward Him.” The resurrection doesn’t mean the pain never mattered. It means the pain does not get the final word. When God feels far away, don’t fake it. Pray it.

Invitation: Write your own “Psalm 13 Prayer” Start with: How long, God…? Then write: “Turn and answer me.” Then write: “But I trust in Your unfailing love.” Then write at least one time you know God cared for you.

  • When You’re Tired, Anxious, and Don’t Know What to Pray [When You Don’t Know What To Pray, part 1]
    2026/06/29

When you don’t know what to pray, Psalm 23 gives words to your tired soul and points you back to Jesus, the Good Shepherd who leads you from anxiety, hurry, fear, comparison, and shame into the life you were made for.

Main Ideas: Prayer can feel awkward, boring, confusing, or intimidating. If you can feel it, you can pray it. The question isn’t whether you have a shepherd. The question is whether your shepherd is giving you life. Anxiety says, “You don’t have enough.” The Shepherd says, “In me, you have what you need.” Hurry says rest comes later. The Shepherd says rest starts here. Sometimes when life is at its darkest, God’s nearness becomes the clearest. You don’t have to fight for a seat God has already given you. Your past may be loud, but it is not faster than the love of God. When you don’t know what to pray, start with the Shepherd.

Invitation: Read and pray Psalm 23 slowly once a day. Each day, ask yourself: “What has been trying to shepherd my soul today?”

  • What If Faith Isn’t About Having All the Answers? [So what about…?, part 8]
    2026/06/16

Following Jesus is not about having all the answers, proving yourself, or knowing more religious information, but about truly knowing Jesus and taking your next faithful step toward Him.

Main Ideas: At some point, faith can’t just be something we talk about. It has to become a life we actually live. When we build our identity on being right, growth becomes nearly impossible. The goal of following Jesus is not just to know more about Him. It’s to know Him. You find Jesus by choosing to trust him. Faith doesn’t begin when every question is answered. Faith begins when we choose to trust Jesus with what we do know. Knowing Jesus doesn’t mean life stops being hard. It means hard things are not the end of the story. Following Jesus is not a destination; it’s a lifelong journey of discovering Jesus. Every step toward Jesus is a step toward real life.

Invitation: Pray, “Jesus, what step do you want me to take toward you right now?” Then trust him enough to take it.
