Seeing Full Satisfaction

John 6:1–15 | Crossview Church | September 20, 2026
In the only miracle recorded in all four Gospels, Jesus feeds a massive crowd with five barley loaves and two fish. The people are physically satisfied—but most miss the deeper point. By the end of the chapter, many walk away.
Caleb walks through John 6:1–15 and shows what a faithful disciple does:

Sees and seizes the opportunities God places in front of us
Sees and serves both the physical and spiritual needs of people
Sees and surrenders to the Father’s plan instead of the convenient one

The crowd wanted a king who would fix Rome. Jesus withdrew to stay on the Father’s mission—the one that actually restores people to God.
This message is for anyone who feels small, distracted, or tempted to settle for comfort over calling. Jesus is still the Bread of Life. He still multiplies what we place in His hands. And He still invites us not to miss what He’s doing.

Jesus wraps up John 5 by answering religious leaders who were tired of His Sabbath healings and growing influence. He does not need to defend Himself—yet He still does. He points to four witnesses that testify about Him: John the Baptist, the Father, the Scriptures, and Moses. The evidence is already there. The question is whether people will receive it.

In this message Pastor Caleb walks through three truths from the text:

1. We must be compassionate convincers. Jesus takes time to reason with people He knows will reject Him. Followers of Jesus are called to live and speak in ways that make Him clearer, not harder to see.
2. Good things can be a barrier to ultimate belief. The Pharisees searched the Scriptures thinking they already had life in them. Knowledge of the Bible, moral effort, and even general spirituality can become substitutes for coming to Jesus Himself.
3. Pride is belief’s greatest barrier. Jesus asks how they can believe when they seek glory from one another instead of from God. Pride convinces us we can carry what only Christ can carry.

The episode also includes a brief update on the church’s prayer for a space of its own and a call to respond—asking the Spirit to remove pride and help us live as people who point others to Jesus.

John 5:19–29 — The Authority of the Son

Pastor Caleb preaches from John 5 on the authority of Jesus. First, Jesus has authority given to Him by His Father (vv. 19–20). Second, He has the authority to give life (vv. 21–26). Third, He has the authority to judge (vv. 27–29). This passage calls us to see who Jesus really is and to respond to Him in faith.
