Most people think Crime and Punishment is a psychological thriller about a murderer. But I came away with a message of hope, redemption, and sacrificial love.

In this video, I discuss Raskolnikov’s "Extraordinary Man Theory," his true punishment, and how Sonya—a girl forced into prostitution—is an imperfect Christ figure in the book. Ultimately, no amount of self-awareness, excuses, or intellectualizing can change us for the better. True transformation can only happen when we empty ourselves and accept unconditional love.
