  • Episode 8: Mary Fields
    2024/03/09

    Mary Fields was the first African American to carry mail on a Star Route for the United States Post Office Department and the second woman to receive a Star Route contract. She was in her early 60's when she started this work. Her story is quite incredible.

  • Episode 5: Martha Maxwell

    Martha Maxwell wasn't a cowgirl in the traditional sense, but she had pioneer spirit in abundance and broke boundaries as a self-taught taxidermist, who discovered a new species of owl in the 19th Century.
