    Coventry City host Hull City at the Coventry Building Society Arena this afternoon at 3pm, their first Premier League home game in 25 years. The club have confirmed the date for their Carabao Cup third round tie at home to Aston Villa: Wednesday 16 September, 8pm kick off, live on Sky Sports+, with ticket details to follow. Two players have left on loan, both confirmed by the club: Wales international midfielder Kai Andrews to Oxford United in League One, and defender Miguel Angel Brau to the Portuguese side Academico de Viseu on a season long loan. Frank Lampard told the BBC he is not in the business of giving out Premier League games as gifts and expects an electric atmosphere for the first home fixture back in the top flight; the same BBC report has Manchester City defender Stephen Mfuni now expected to join on loan, though neither club has announced anything. There will also be a minute's applause in the 27th minute of Saturday's match for Harry Chattaway, a 27 year old lifelong Sky Blues season ticket holder from Allesley who died earlier this month, organised by his friend Ryan Jones.     Coventry City have signed Ethan Pinnock from Brentford on a permanent contract for an undisclosed fee, confirmed by the club. The thirty three year old defender made 216 appearances for Brentford across seven seasons and has played for Jamaica at the Copa America and the Gold Cup. Coventry have also been drawn at home to Aston Villa in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with the date and kick off time still to be confirmed by the club. The BBC report that Coventry are back in talks with Manchester City over a season long loan for the 18 year old defender Stephen Mfuni, a move that had previously fallen through; that one is talks rather than a deal and nothing has been announced. Plus the club move to digital ticketing for 2026/27 ahead of Saturday's home opener, a newly extended number 20 bus service between Coventry railway station and the Coventry Building Society Arena starts on Saturday, and the club's free audio description commentary service for blind and partially sighted supporters returns for the season.     Coventry City are through to the third round of the Carabao Cup after beating League One Plymouth Argyle four two at Home Park. Frank Lampard made nine changes from the Arsenal team, Dan Bentley made his debut in goal, and Taiwo Awoniyi scored his first goal for the club inside three minutes before setting up Jack Rudoni two minutes later. Plymouth came back through Oliver Irow and Xavier Amaechi before Ephron Mason-Clark and a Victor Torp penalty settled it, with Sidiki Cherif making his Coventry debut off the bench. Lampard told CoventryLive after the game that his side made big mistakes for the goals but that the reaction was good. Plus the PFA have published their Championship team of the year for 2026, chosen by the players, and six of the eleven names in it are listed as Coventry City: Carl Rushworth, Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Matt Grimes, Jack Rudoni and Haji Wright. And a look ahead to Saturday, when Hull City visit the Coventry Building Society Arena for Coventry's first home game back in the top flight.
