Herein we discuss the what and the how of forgiveness. We forgive when we cancel the debt of those who have injured us as an act of mercy from the heart. Repeated forgiveness is the responsibility of all disciples. We can more readily be willing to forgive when we contemplate the compassion of our Heavenly Father, remember the great debt we have incurred by sinning against him, tremble at the threatening of the King, and remember that our forgiving others is the mark of having been forgiven. We end by looking at the question, "Should or can we forgive others who have not admitted their wrongdoing?"

The Holy Spirit helps us in our sufferings by his intercession. We look at the nature of that intercession and seek to understand how it helps us. Herein, we learn that his intercession is an earnest plea, helpful, wordless groanings, on behalf of the saints, according to God's will, and effectual. Understanding these things, reminds us that his help is from our gracious Father and in our elder brother Jesus Christ and that the Spirit helps us in more ways than just intercession.

The Parable of the Growing Seed, with its focus on the man's experience of scattering seed and watching it grow, gives us a direction and hope in the face of the sadness that comes as we contemplate those parts of our hearts still in rebellion against the rule of Christ and as we desire our loved ones to receive Christ in the gospel and to obey his word.
