Terrence Harper, Sr., and our current pastor, Rev. Dr. Wallace O. McLaughlin.     Messy families are nothing new, and families have been messy since the beginnings of time – it’s “All in the Family.” The skeletons in Jesus’ family closet points to the instabilities of Israel’s history, the long story of a very dysfunctional family. And that is good news for everyone who comes from a less than perfect family, anyone who has a few skeletons in the family. In today’s message, Pastor Wallace focuses on the stories of the four women who appear in the genealogy of Jesus recorded in Matthew’s Gospel and ask why they are included. The answer may surprise you! As a result, this Christmas, when you sit down at the dinner table across from your loved ones, remember that we are “All in the Family,” good, bad, and ugly. We are all loved by God. Amen

    Matthew, in his gospel narrative of the birth of Christ, picked up what Isaiah had prophesied, and used it in application to the Lord Jesus. Listen to his words: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, “God with us” (Matthew 1:23). God is not distant. He is here, with us. He is not unapproachable, unreachable. He became one of us so that we could know Him, so that we could know how much He loves us.
