  • The First Commandment: No Other Gods! - Exodus 20:1-3
    2026/02/01

The very first Commandment that the Lord gave to His redeemed people was that they were to have no other gods before Him. That is, they were not to have any other gods in His presence. God clearly wanted to be in an exclusive relationship with the people that He had saved. The commandment seemed simple enough. But it would be hard for God’s people, the Israelites, to remain faithful to God given that they had just spent over 400 years in a culture that immersed itself in worshipping many gods. The call for God’s people to be faithful is just as difficult now as it was for the Israelites then. In this message, pastor John will share with us the steps we can take if we discover that another god has begun to compete with the living God for our love and devotion.

  • Strength In Weakness - 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
    2026/01/11

When was the last time you gladly bragged about your weaknesses? Your failures? Your flaws? Usually, if we are honest, we try to hide them. We don’t want anyone to know what our weaknesses are. In many instances, we are ashamed of them. And so, we often go out of our way to mask our weaknesses and to present ourselves in the best possible light while at the same time not being true to ourselves or to God. The apostle Paul was unusual in that he embraced his weaknesses. So much so that he bragged about them! In the message pastor John shares why it is important for God’s people to embrace their weaknesses and not try to hide them.

The story of the wise men coming from a distant land to offer gifts to Jesus, is a story about worshipping the newborn King. The gifts they gave were gifts fit for a king. Are we offering in worship, a gift we enjoy and figuring God will like it? A real gift, real worship, means knowing what's important to The Receiver. In this message pastor John will share what God considers important as we seek to worship Him.
