  • Episode 47 | Learn, Earn and Return: Dream Big to Give Big | Clint Pulver
    2026/09/14
Curtis Morley sits down with longtime friend and professional speaker Clint Pulver to explore what it means to live with abundance, purpose, gratitude, faith, and ultimately peace.Clint shares the remarkable story of how his dream of becoming a helicopter pilot was seemingly destroyed at age 21 when he was diagnosed with keratoconus and told he would eventually go blind. The experience forced him to abandon his original plan and attend college—something he had never intended to do. At Utah Valley University, he discovered new possibilities and developed the skills and relationships that ultimately helped shape his career as a speaker. Years later, advances in medical treatment and scleral lenses restored his ability to see 20/20, allowing him to fly again. He subsequently began using his passion for aviation to serve others through his Dream Machines foundation, taking children with disabilities and their families flying. That journey becomes the foundation for one of the episode's central ideas: sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fit together. Clint describes the obstacles in his life as roadblocks that forced him to change direction and ultimately trust God's plan rather than his own. His philosophy is to keep moving forward, stay engaged, and allow God to redirect him when necessary. The conversation then turns to the difference between accumulation and abundance. Clint argues that it is perfectly acceptable to dream big, pursue success, enjoy the things that bring you joy, and strive for greatness. The key is understanding why you want those things. His mantra is: "It's not about being the best in the world. It's about being the best for the world." He describes his father's philosophy of "learn, earn, return"—using what you learn and achieve to ultimately give back to others.Clint also discusses the danger of endlessly chasing the next accomplishment. After years of intense work and sacrifice, he reached a point where he could look at what he had accomplished and say, "It is enough." For him, fulfillment comes from balancing three things: passion, purpose, and the ability to provide.Another major theme is the idea that greatness does not have to equal pride. Clint and Curtis discuss how people can mistakenly shrink themselves because they fear appearing boastful. Instead, they suggest allowing greatness to flow through you so it can benefit others. Clint connects this mindset to gratitude, recognizing the people who helped him along his own journey. • Episode 46 | Ownership vs. Stewardship: Who Really Owns Your Life? | Liz Hartke
    2026/09/06
In this episode, Curtis Morley sits down with leadership coach and entrepreneur Liz Hartke, who has coached thousands of people and has worked alongside leadership giant John Maxwell. The conversation begins with Liz's entrepreneurial upbringing and her evolution from helping business owners scale their companies to helping leaders become the people they are called to be.One of the episode's central ideas is the distinction between ownership and stewardship. Curtis describes ownership as a counterfeit of stewardship: ownership can create a sense that everything is "mine" and must therefore be controlled, while stewardship recognizes that we are responsible for what has been entrusted to us without ultimately possessing it. Liz expands this idea to business, leadership, children, relationships, and life itself.Liz also shares the story of meeting John Maxwell, whom she had studied extensively. What begins as a reluctant trip to an event shortly after the birth of her fourth child turns into a personal meeting with Maxwell, followed by an invitation to work with his organization. Perhaps the biggest lesson she takes from the experience isn't networking or business strategy—it's curiosity and humility. Even at the highest level of leadership, Maxwell continued asking questions and learning from others. The conversation then turns toward calling and purpose. Liz emphasizes that calling isn't necessarily one permanent destination. What God calls someone to do can change with different seasons of life. Her "Clarity Matrix" distinguishes between things that are "easy but heavy" and things that are "hard but light." The easy-but-heavy path represents things we're competent at and can do successfully but that leave us restless or unfulfilled. The hard-but-light path is challenging and uncertain, but it brings a sense of energy, purpose, and alignment. The most emotionally powerful portion of the episode comes when Liz recounts losing her fifth baby during pregnancy and then nearly dying from massive blood loss. After surviving, she describes experiencing an overwhelming clarity: she and her husband decided they would no longer spend their lives on things that weren't aligned with what they believed God was calling them to do.That realization led Liz to make difficult business decisions, including walking away from profitable work and programs that no longer aligned with her values. She describes the process as a daily battle against returning to what was comfortable, convenient, and financially safe. The episode ultimately circles back to peace. Liz describes peace as a compass for determining whether she is in alignment, while Curtis describes it as the one emotion in his framework that cannot be counterfeited. Liz's most profound experience of peace came not when circumstances were easy, but when she surrendered control in the middle of the most difficult circumstances imaginable.CONNECT WITH LIZ HARTKEWebsite - https://luminaryleadershipco.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/elizhartke LISTEN/WATCH/SUBSCRIBE TO THE “COUNTERFEIT EMOTIONS” PODCAST:*Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/counterfeit-emotions-podcast-with-curtis-morley/id1815869994*Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/0aGzO1BVLAXyGKfb4absPn?si=8c746decf9514fe3 *YouTube Podcasts - https://www.youtube.com/@AuthenticCurtis/podcasts CONNECT WITH THE “COUNTERFEIT EMOTIONS” PODCAST*Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/authenticcurtis *LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/curtismorley/ *YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@AuthenticCurtis *TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@authenticcurtis *Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/AuthenticCurtis *X - https://twitter.com/AuthenticCurtis *Website - https://www.counterfeitemotions.com/ *Email for general messages - info@counterfeitemotions.com *Collab with us - info@counterfeitemotions.com *Book me to speak = speaking@curtismorley.com

  • Episode 45 | Becoming Is a Return: Finding Your Way Back to Who You Really Are | Mitch Whiting
    2026/08/26
This episode of Counterfeit Emotions features Mitch Whiting and explores a central question: What if becoming your best self isn't about becoming someone new, but returning to who you already are?Mitch shares the story of his transition from a high-achieving corporate career—including his time at Walmart—to a radically different understanding of success, identity, abundance, and peace. A pivotal moment came when a nurse asked him to rate his stress from 1–10. Mitch answered 2, while his wife immediately said 9. That disconnect forced him to confront how disconnected he had become from his own emotional reality. From there, the conversation develops the distinction between gratitude and abundance. Mitch explains that gratitude can become limiting when it is interpreted as "I should be satisfied with what I have." Abundance, by contrast, allows someone to appreciate what they have while remaining open to receiving more. He describes abundance as a state of receiving rather than clinging.A major theme is identity. Mitch challenges the idea that we need to decide who we want to become and then construct that identity. Instead, he argues that identity is something we reveal by removing the suffering, labels, fear, and beliefs that obscure who we already are. He uses Michelangelo's David as a metaphor: the sculpture wasn't created by adding something—it was revealed by removing what wasn't David. The conversation then moves into shame and choice. Mitch argues that words like "should," "have to," "need to," and "must" can reinforce shame because they make us feel as though we have no agency. Replacing them with "I choose to" creates freedom and allows actions to come from love and desire rather than obligation. The episode ultimately reframes success. Rather than measuring success through money, titles, possessions, awards, or achievement, Curtis describes true success as surrender that leads to connection. Mitch expands that idea into becoming who you really are and helping others become who they really are.The final destination of the conversation is peace. Mitch describes peace as being rooted in truth and argues that suffering comes from believing things that aren't true. Moving from false beliefs to truth allows someone to return to a powerful state and ultimately discover who they really are.CONNECT WITH MITCH WHITING*Mitch is offering listeners a free consultation call**website: http://www.mitchwhiting.com*LinkedIn: http://www.linkedin.com/in/mitchwhitingLISTEN/WATCH/SUBSCRIBE TO THE “COUNTERFEIT EMOTIONS” PODCAST:*Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/counterfeit-emotions-podcast-with-curtis-morley/id1815869994*Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/0aGzO1BVLAXyGKfb4absPn?si=8c746decf9514fe3 *YouTube Podcasts - https://www.youtube.com/@AuthenticCurtis/podcasts *Amazon Music Podcasts - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/05e74308-205e-4416-bc73-8fecd006f528/counterfeit-emotions-podcast-with-curtis-morley *iHeartRadio Podcasts - https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-counterfeit-emotions-podca-276824817 CONNECT WITH THE “COUNTERFEIT EMOTIONS” PODCAST*Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/authenticcurtis *LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/curtismorley/ *YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@AuthenticCurtis *TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@authenticcurtis *Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/AuthenticCurtis *X - https://twitter.com/AuthenticCurtis *Website - https://www.counterfeitemotions.com/ *Email for general messages - info@counterfeitemotions.com *Collab with us - info@counterfeitemotions.com *Book me to speak = speaking@curtismorley.com *Sponsor Us - info@counterfeitemotions.com WE LOVE MAIL AND CARE PACKAGES!: Email us for the address: PRODUCTION CREDITS:Recorded at Mindset Content Creation StudiosProduced by Tommy MooreBrought to you by Vodcasts by Tommy Moore Presents - https://www.instagram.com/vodcasts_by_tommymoore/
