James does not tell you to feel joy in suffering—he tells you to "count" it, a deliberate decision of the mind to see your pain the way God sees it. And notice he wrote "when," not "if": trials are not a possibility to fear but a certainty to prepare for, and none of your "various trials" falls outside God's redeeming reach. Paul confirms it in Romans 5:3-4, tracing suffering all the way to unshakeable hope, while Peter in 1 Peter 1:6-7 compares your tested faith to gold refined by fire—more precious than anything ease could produce. So answer honestly: are you resenting the very trial God is using to make you complete and lacking nothing?
