What do you do when fear is so loud it drowns out everything you know to be true? Pastor Dawn opens her message by walking us through one of David's most vulnerable moments: a man anointed by God, fleeing for his life, lying to a priest, and eventually drooling on himself to fake insanity. Yet even through this, God's grace refuses to quit. Pastor Dawn draws out a striking truth: David ran toward God's presence first, but fear quickly hijacked his instincts, replacing faith with frantic self-reliance by hoarding weapons, spinning lies, and trusting his own plans over God's provision. With honest, personal vulnerability, Pastor Dawn reminds us that our "swords"—our backup plans, our need for control, our carefully curated appearances—become dangerous the moment they replace God as our source of safety. Yet the story doesn't end in humiliation. Jesus himself points back to this very moment, declaring that relationship with God always trumps rigid ritual, and that He is the bread of presence, the Good Shepherd, the Lord of our fears. As a church community, we are called to gather around one another, speak truth into each other's panic, and taste the goodness of a God who pursues us even through our worst failures. Run to Him—He is already running toward you.
