    Adam's journey from becoming the youngest ever winner of the duck stamp competition and his resiliency through the ups and downs is loaded with lessons learned and it's clear that he is passionate about waterfowl, and that passion is shared by his entire family.

    He also shares some insight into the duck stamp competition and Corey discusses the growing concerns about keeping the duck stamp tradition alive.

    Corey Lucas and producer Clayton Beaird sit down in the Cedar Run Decoy Co. studio with the one-and-only Jeff Stanfield, who's notoriety is gained from running a successful waterfowl guide service in Texas and co-hosting one of the top hunting and wilderness podcasts in country, The Big Honker Podcast. He's joined by good friend and avid waterfowler Lucas Belanger.

    Jeff shares how his upbringing led to a life as a guide, essentially describing the roots of the family run Stanfield Hunting Outfitters near Knox City, Texas. He talks about how the idea of a podcast came from his son Andy, who not only works every day alongside him running the hunts, but co-hosts and produces the top waterfowl podcast in the nation, The Big Honker Podcast.

    Belanger helps paint the picture of why stays at Stanfield's the Big Honker Lodge are so special, and the guys discuss why it feels like family every time they're down there.

    Growing up around the Great Lakes, the sight of a freighter on the horizon of the big lakes is not uncommon. Karl steps us through how he built a career steering these ships around the big freshwaters of Lake Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Superior. They also learn how the ships hide from storms and what they're hauling around.

    Karl also shares his cool experiences getting to hunt along side his Dad growing up in Alpena in northern Michigan, and how that has shaped the style of hunting he still does today.

    Corey Lucas and producer Clayton Beaird sit down in the Cedar Run Decoy Company studio with Jacob Mayo, the owner of General Vintage and cast member of Duck Dynasty The Revival.

    The fellas spent the past few days turkey hunting with Jacob in northern Michigan and they discuss the crazy travel logistics that led up to the hunt and the excitement that ensued shortly after Jacob's plane landed.

    Jacob talks about his family history and childhood interest and the origin story of General Vintage is revealed through his connection with his grandma and her generous spirit. The guys even stopped at a local thrift shop to see Jacob do his thing.

    The conversation leads to the Robertson family of the Duck Dynasty fame, and how the new series, Duck Dynasty The Revival, differs from the original series.

    It's a fun conversation and provides some great insight on how family, friends, and common interests make this life exciting.

  • Episode #37: Building the "Pinnacle" of Duck Boats with Jordan Erickson

    Corey Lucas, Kaj Carlson and producer Clayton Beaird sit down in the Cedar Run Decoy Company studio with Jordan Erickson, founder and co-owner of Pinnacle Boat Co., specializing in custom fishing and duck boats made right here in southwest Michigan.

    The guys talked through Jordan's childhood, building the work ethic and necessary experience through various jobs that included working on a golf course, helping his uncle wrench on hot rods, and being introduced to welding in a local fab shop. He carried his interests on to college at Ferris State University and Jordan explained how he was able to intertwine all of these skills and experiences into crafting high-quality custom boats.

    It was a rewarding time getting to learn about how Jordan is building the literal "Pinnacle" of duck boats and we are excited to be alongside him as the Pinnacle Boat Co. grows!
