In this episode, Ricardo Karam meets with Salim Edde, the leading Lebanese businessman who succeeded in turning his dream into reality through his global company, "Murex."
Born in Beirut, he is the son of former minister Michel Edde. Despite growing up in a political environment, Salim chose a path away from politics to build an economic empire in the world of software and financial technology.
Salim studied at Notre Dame Jamhour College in Lebanon before continuing his studies abroad due to the Lebanese Civil War. He joined the École Polytechnique in France, earned a degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and later pursued an MBA at the University of Chicago.
In 1986, Salim co-founded "Murex" with Laurent Néel, which became a global leader in developing software for risk management in financial markets.
In addition to his professional achievements, Salim founded the "MIM" Museum in Beirut in 2013, which houses the largest private collection of minerals in the world. He is committed to supporting education and culture in Lebanon through contributions to various educational institutions.
In the 2022 Lebanese presidential elections, Salim Edde ran for president, declaring his priorities to support education, culture, and the development of academic institutions in Lebanon.

على الرغم من نشأته في بيئة سياسية، اختار سليم أن يسلك مساراً بعيداً عن السياسة، ليبني إمبراطورية اقتصادية في عالم البرمجيات والتكنولوجيا المالية.
درس سليم في كلية نوتردام جَمْهُور في لبنان، قبل أن يتابع دراسته في الخارج بسبب الحرب الأهلية اللبنانية. التحق بالمدرسة المتعددة التقنيات في فرنسا، وحصل على شهادة في الهندسة الكيميائية من معهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا، ثم أكمل دراسته في إدارة الأعمال بجامعة شيكاغو.
في عام 1986، شارك سليم مع لوران نيل في تأسيس شركة "موركس"، التي أصبحت من الشركات الرائدة عالمياً في تطوير البرمجيات لإدارة المخاطر في الأسواق المالية.
علاوة على نجاحاته المهنية، أسّس سليم في 2013 متحف "ميم" في بيروت، الذي يضمّ أكبر مجموعة خاصة من المعادن في العالم. وهو ملتزم بدعم التعليم والثقافة في لبنان من خلال مساهماته في مؤسسات تعليمية عدة.
في الانتخابات الرئاسية اللبنانية لعام 2022، ترشّح سليم إده لرئاسة الجمهورية، مُعلناً عن أولوياته في دعم التعليم والثقافة وتطوير المؤسسات الأكاديمية في لبنان.

In this episode, Ricardo Karam meets Jean Boghossian, the Belgian Lebanese artist of Armenian descent who transforms fire and smoke into a unique artistic language. Born in Aleppo in 1949 into a family of jewelers, his journey spans from private painting lessons in childhood to experimenting with abstract art and finding his signature medium—fire.
Beyond art, Boghossian reflects on his family’s exile from Armenia to Syria and Lebanon, the experiences that shaped him, his marriages, fatherhood, philanthropy, and deep-rooted belief in identity and humanism. He shares his perspective on love as a creative force, influencing both his work and life.
Representing Armenia at the Venice Biennale in 2017 and again in 2022 with Melancholia Contemporanea, he continues to push artistic boundaries with exhibitions in Luxembourg, Brussels, Monaco, and Seoul in 2024.

في هذه الحلقة، يلتقي ريكاردو كرم بجان بوغوصيان، الفنان البلجيكي-اللبناني ذو الأصول الأرمنية، الذي حوّل النار والدخان إلى لغة إبداعية فريدة. وُلد في حلب عام 1949 لعائلة تعمل في صناعة المجوهرات، وبدأ رحلته الفنية منذ الطفولة عبر دروس خاصة في الرسم، قبل أن يخوض في الفن التجريدي ويكتشف وسيلته المفضلة: النار.
لكن حديثه لا يقتصر على الفن، إذ يتناول أيضاً هجرة عائلته من أرمينيا إلى سوريا ولبنان، والتجارب التي شكّلته، وزيجاته، وأبوّته، وأعماله الخيرية، وإيمانه العميق بالهوية والإنسانية. كما يشارك رؤيته للحب كقوة إبداعية تؤثر في أعماله وحياته.
بعد تمثيله لأرمينيا في بينالي البندقية عام 2017 وعودته إليه في 2022 بعمله الضخم الكآبة المعاصرة، يواصل بوغوصيان كسر الحدود بين الرسم والنحت والتلوين من خلال معارض فردية في لوكسمبورغ وبروكسل وموناكو وسيول عام 2024

In this episode, Ricardo Karam meets with Raeda Taha, a Palestinian director and writer who was born in Jerusalem and is the daughter of Palestinian activist Ali Taha.
Raeda talks to us about the impact of the Palestinian struggle on her life and shares her journey between art and politics, having worked as a press secretary for President Yasser Arafat from 1987 to 1994.
Raeda speaks openly about personal liberation that does not contradict with national struggle and the differences between generations of resistance, how the tools of resistance have shifted from weapons to social media, which has helped spread the Palestinian cause worldwide.
She also tells us how she used theater as a tool to confront the imposed silence on personal and artistic expression.
From her play "Ghazal Akka" to her solo performance titled "Where Can I Find Someone Like You, Ali?", Raeda gives a powerful Palestinian voice, sharing her artistic journey that began in Jerusalem before 1967 and moved through Lebanon, Amman, and Ramallah. She also reveals her meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the influence of Ghassan Kanafani on her artistic career.
