The episode asks why uncertainty often closes the door for BID patients, and why this matters for medicine, autonomy, suffering, and the authority institutions exercise over the body.     Why do some elective alterations of healthy bodies enter the clinical pathway, while others are stopped before they can even be considered?In this episode of Contested Bodies, I examine how surgeons and other professionals respond to requests for major elective body alteration.
