This week Bianca sits down with comedian Eva Alexopoulos —and she is funny. Like, actually funny—not “my mom’s friends keep telling me I should do stand-up” funny. She’s appeared at Just For Laughs, hosts the Kickback Comedy Show, and is currently out there killing it while the rest of us are just trying to answer our emails.
Eva joins us to talk about her upbringing, mental health, bad relationships, and all the ways your childhood continues to follow you around long after you’ve moved out.
We get into what happens after you leave an abusive relationship and finally end up with a genuinely nice guy. Because sometimes the real plot twist isn’t dating another disaster—it’s feeling safe enough to realize that some of the things you thought were personality traits were actually trauma responses. Love that journey for us.
We also talk about why therapy can feel so awkward when you grow up with European parents, the weirdness of saying your feelings out loud to a complete stranger, and Eva finally starting therapy.
Eva shares the deeply personal story behind her love of Dalmatians and how that connection grew into something much bigger. We also chat about women in comedy, Just For Laughs, the Kickback Comedy Show, checking in with yourself, and learning how to exist in a healthy relationship when chaos used to feel a lot more familiar.
It’s funny, honest, occasionally dark, and very Barely Edited.
