If you've been scrolling through lacrosse social media lately, you've likely seen buzz about the Alpha Lacrosse League (ALL). Intrigued? You're not alone. In a recent conversation on the Colorado Lacrosse News Podcast, Asa McKee sits down with Michael Maloney, founder and president of the ALL, to explore what this new league brings to the table.

College lacrosse recruiting is changing, and players and families need to understand what those changes could mean for their path.

In this episode of the Colorado Lacrosse News Podcast, Asa McKee sits down with Madison McPherson, founder of MadMac Athletic Consulting and former Division I lacrosse player at Johns Hopkins and Stanford, to break down the NCAA’s new five-year eligibility structure and its potential impact on college lacrosse rosters and recruiting.

Madison and Asa discuss how the new eligibility clock could affect current college players, incoming recruits, roster sizes, transfers, playing time, scholarships, reclassification, and the decisions athletes make when choosing a college. They also look at whether having five years could give athletes more flexibility with demanding academic programs and graduate degrees.

They also cover the changes to Division I recruiting contact on September 1, what players should be doing before coaches can contact them, what communication is allowed before that date, and why athletes should not panic if the phone does not immediately start ringing.

The conversation then turns to Division III recruiting, where the rules and timeline can look very different, along with financial aid, verbal commitments, coaching changes, choosing the right college fit, recruiting showcases, burnout, and the role parents should play throughout the process.

Whether you are a 2027, 2028, 2029 recruit or simply starting to learn how college lacrosse recruiting works, this episode offers practical information to help you understand what is changing and what you should be thinking about now.
