With a career in destination management, corporate travel and events, Liz Suomi knows how to create a memorable experience. After living in San Francisco, Singapore and New York City, she and her family have settled in Charleston, where planning trips for friends and family revealed an opportunity for a boutique luxury travel business.

Liz joins Rae to share the story behind Palm & Proper Destination Co., her love of the Lowcountry, and how she brings thoughtful details and local expertise to customized getaways and mahjong retreats. We talk entrepreneurship, connection, motherhood and the luxury of letting Palm & Proper Destination Co. take care of the planning.

What does it really take to save a dog and change the perception of an entire breed along the way?

This week on Coffee Monday, Rae sits down with Bridgette Boothe, Shelter Director of Fresno Bully Rescue, to talk about the reality of animal rescue in the Central Valley, how she went from volunteering and walking dogs to leading the organization, and what people still get wrong about bully breeds.
Bridgette takes us behind the scenes of what happens from the moment Fresno Bully Rescue says “yes” to a dog through rehabilitation, fostering and finding the right forever home. They also talk about responsible pet ownership, adopting with kids, the emotional side of rescue and the many ways you can help even if adopting another dog isn’t an option.

Plus, Fresno Bully Rescue is heading Back to the Bully Walk for its annual Bully Boo Walk on Sunday, October 4 at Woodward Park in Fresno, with an ’80s-themed flashback this year.

A conversation for dog lovers, rescue supporters and anyone who’s ever judged a dog by its breed before getting to know the dog behind the label.

You may know her as Margie Spumoni, the pasta-loving personality behind @margie_spumoni, serving up cutesy pasta making and California-Italian home cooking inspired by everything that’s good in the Central Valley. But did you know Margie Spumoni is actually a persona created by Margaret Ann “Margie” Simone?

This week on Coffee Monday, Rae sits down with Margie to talk about where her love of Italian food and homemade pasta came from, growing a food-focused social media following, and how living in the heart of California agriculture inspires what ends up on her table. Plus, they talk family food traditions, easy ways to make home cooking feel less intimidating, and of course, plenty of pasta. Come hungry!
