In Part 2 of our look at how golf equipment can create swing problems, Gene breaks down more common compensations golfers make when their clubs don’t properly fit their body or their swing. From lifting instead of turning and poor weight shift to swaying, disconnected arms, posture changes, and limited wrist hinge, the movement you’re trying to “fix” may actually be your body adapting to the equipment in your hands.

Gene also shares real-world examples of golfers whose club weight, shaft stiffness, length, or swing weight pushed them into movements that made consistent contact almost impossible. Before you completely rebuild your swing, it may be worth finding out whether your equipment is helping you—or forcing you to compensate.

Is your putting stroke really the problem—or is your putter making the game harder than it needs to be?

In this episode of Club Fitting Chronicles, Gene and Josh break down the most important variables in putter fitting, including grip size and weight, counterbalancing, putter length, shaft weight, head shape, alignment aids, toe hang, face milling and inserts. Gene also explains why many golfers are using putters that are too long and shares a simple way to estimate the proper length for your natural setup.
