  • Get Ready to Take a Look in the Mirror
    2026/09/10

We've spent weeks getting to know God — His holiness, His unchanging nature, all of it. But how does that help us get along with people? In this episode, we launch a new stretch of our Systematic Theology series with the doctrine of humanity, starting with two foundational truths: we were created for God's glory, and we were created in His image.

We use the picture of Michael Jordan at the peak of a dunk — hand raised, tongue out, at his absolute max — to talk about what it means to display God's glory, and the sobering account of Herod in Acts 12, struck down for accepting worship that belonged to God alone. Then we dig into what it actually means to be made in God's image: not some "royal we" from an ancient king, but the Triune God speaking within Himself. We close with the weight that truth carries for how we treat one another — why murder is ultimately an assault on God Himself, and why even cursing someone is something God takes personally.

0:00 – Why Would God Even Bring Us Into This World?
4:06 – The Michael Jordan Illustration of God's Glory
9:10 – The Herod Warning: Don't Take God's Glory for Yourself
13:26 – Made in God's Image, Not Just a Royal "We"
19:43 – Why Murder Is an Assault on God Himself
22:00 – Take a Look in the Mirror: Every Person Has God's Patent on Them

  • "I Know What the Bible Says — I'm Just Not Going to Obey It"
    2026/09/09

"I know exactly what the Bible says. I've heard preachers preach about it. I've heard it read to me my entire life. I'm just not gonna obey it." In this episode, we continue our Systematic Theology series by picking up where yesterday left off — the doctrine of Scripture — and turning to authority, clarity, necessity, and sufficiency.

We talk about why treating the Bible like an owner's manual you consult occasionally, rather than the very breath you live on, quietly strips it of its authority in your life. Using the picture of a doctor who names the cure but won't force you to take it, we explore why disobeying Scripture always carries natural consequences rather than arbitrary punishment. We also dig into how to spot a false teacher, why the Bible's clarity means the parts that trouble us most are usually the ones we understand perfectly well, and practical steps for anyone who wants to move from owning a Bible to actually studying it. The episode closes with a real conversation about a young man who invented a "back door" path to God outside Scripture — and why there isn't one.

0:00 – "I Know What the Bible Says — I'm Just Not Going to Obey It"
4:02 – These Are the Words of God, Not Suggestions
8:36 – Has God Indeed Said? Losing Biblical Authority
    12:29 – The Bible's Clarity: It's Not the Parts You Don't Understand
14:46 – How to Actually Start Studying the Bible
19:14 – What About Those Who Never Heard the Gospel?

  • Inspiration and Inerrancy — What They Actually Mean (It's Not What You Think)
    2026/09/08

The Bible is the inspired, infallible, unchanging Word of God — but what does that actually mean? In this episode, we continue our Systematic Theology series by turning to the doctrine of Scripture itself: where it came from, why it's trustworthy, and how to answer some of the hardest questions people raise about it.

We tackle a common objection head-on — that the Bible was written by so many different people over so many centuries that it can't really be one unified message — and show why that's actually strong evidence for Scripture rather than against it. We define inspiration (the very words of the Bible breathed out by God through human authors) and inerrancy (that Scripture, in its original writings, is wholly true), and walk through a real example from Dr. Abidan Shah's own textual criticism work — a verse that likely wasn't part of the original text. We close with a personal look at why falling in love with God's Word starts with simply opening it.

0:00 – Why We Go to Scripture, Not Just Nature, to Know God
2:11 – The "Many Authors" Objection Is Actually Evidence for Scripture
6:26 – General Revelation vs. Specific Revelation
10:35 – What Inspiration Means (And Why Manuscript Errors Don't Undermine It)
14:53 – Different Authors, Different Backgrounds, Same Message
16:35 – What Inerrancy Actually Means (And What It Doesn't)
18:26 – The Acts 8:37 Example: A Real Textual Variant
26:07 – Falling in Love With the Word of God
