    In Romans 15:14–16, Paul begins to bring his letter to a close by reassuring the Roman Christians that, despite the many challenging truths he has taught them, he sees clear evidence of God’s grace and work in their lives. The sermon emphasizes three reasons for Romans: first, to help believers have confidence in God’s work in them, recognizing that we often see how far we still have to go rather than how God is already changing us; second, to boldly remind one another of the gospel regularly, because Christians are naturally forgetful and prone to fear, anxiety, and discouragement, making continual gospel encouragement essential; and third, to grow in Spirit-filled sanctification, since biblical knowledge is never meant to leave us unchanged but is intended to make us increasingly holy and Christlike. Like Paul’s encouragement to the Roman church, the message calls believers to recognize God’s work among them, continually remind one another of Christ’s goodness, and allow the gospel to produce genuine, ongoing transformation. Ultimately, the reason for Romans is that God’s people would grow to become more like Jesus because Christ has made them His own.
