概要

This podcast follows what that experience was like for religious leaders, members of religious organizations, those churches who became hybrid during the pandemic. We also look at how media ministry is transforming the church now that the pandemic is over. In Seasons 2 & 3, we focus on unique media ministries that can be found outside the four walls of the church!

On this episode of the Church With No Walls, host Ryan Dearbone sits down with filmmaker, Jewell R. Powell to discuss her powerful faith journey and her debut film Unfailing Love. After a 30-year government career, Powell says she felt called by God to write and produce a modern-day retelling of the biblical story of Hosea—despite having no prior experience in filmmaking. In this inspiring conversation, she shares how faith, obedience, and perseverance led her to write, produce, direct, and even act in the film. Powell also discusses the film’s message about God’s unconditional love, the impact the movie has had on viewers, and what audiences can expect from her upcoming Christmas film project.

In this powerful episode, host Ryan Dearbone sits down with minister, author, and nonprofit founder Ambi Smith for an honest conversation about calling, healing, and faith lived beyond the church building. Ambi shares the 13-year journey of Sisters in the Name of Christ, Inc., a women’s ministry dedicated to equipping and empowering women facing emotional, spiritual, and mental health challenges—especially in the wake of the pandemic.

Together, they explore the dangers of silent suffering, the importance of self-care alongside prayer, and how unmanaged stress impacts both personal well-being and spiritual growth. Ambi opens up about hearing God’s call, walking in obedience, setting healthy boundaries, and modeling faith through everyday life, motherhood, and leadership.

This episode is a reminder that healing is a lifelong process, faith requires intention, and transformation can happen anywhere—not just on Sunday mornings.

  • Season 3, Episode 4 "Black History & the Church-Part Two": Dr. John Hardin, Professor Emeritus
    2026/02/20

    Send a text

As our wide-ranging conversation with Dr. John Hardin continues, we explore the past, present, and future of the Black church through the lens of history, theology, and social justice. The conversation examines how figures like Martin Luther King Jr. are often misunderstood or selectively quoted, and how prosperity preaching and oversimplified theology can dilute the church’s prophetic voice. Dr. Hardin and host, Ryan Dearbone also discuss the tension between making faith “plain” and confronting the complex realities of race, justice, mental health, and leadership in today’s world. As churches become more educated, more integrated, and more influenced by technology, what is gained—and what risks are being lost?
