  • Ep #78: Louis Moinet At Geneva Watch Days, The 1816 Chronograph & The Legacy of Jean-Marie Schaller with Kurt Kupper of Louis Moinet
    2026/09/01

Join us on a journey into old world high horology, elegance and independent watchmaking. The CP7 Boys are back to bring you an exclusive interview with the acting-CEO of Louis Moinet, Kurt Kupper, on the eve of Geneva Watch Days 2026, and before we fly out to Geneva. Louis Moinet was the watchmaker, if you didn’t know, responsible for inventing the first chronograph, in a pocket watch in 1816, one of the most popular and enduring complications in horological history.

Kurt tells us how Louis Moinet’s celebratory 1816 Chronograph wristwatch is rapidly becoming their flagship piece, focused on heritage and affordability alongside some of the most impressive haute horology and use of materials (some older than the earth!) in independent watchmaking.

No show about Loius Moinet would be complete without discovering the achievements and creativity of their former CEO Jean-Marie Schaller, a real visionary who sadly passed away in May this year. Discover how he rejuvenated the company and turned it into the exclusive collector’s fan favourite it is today, and what Kurt and his team have planned to continue that legacy and beyond.

So buckle up and enjoy the ride, let the orchestra play as we take a magical journey into classical luxury watchmaking and opulent old world charm, with a modern twist, as Kurt Kupper talks all things Louis Moinet.
